We had a lovely weeks holiday here, we were three adult couples (family) and found the position of the hotel was fabulous for all that Benelmadena has to offer, which is a lot! We particularly liked being so close to the marina complex with its many bars and restaurants. The hotel itself was everything we were expecting with reasonable rooms, plenty of sun beds and a good bar offering, the breakfast was perfectly adequate and catered for a range of tastes, we didn’t have an evening meal so can’t really comment but from what we saw €15 seemed a good deal! We would definitely return but may look for somewhere close that had a larger swimming pool, the upper one was too shallow for anything other than a wallow and the lower one was soon overcrowded at busy times, nothing to really moan about though!

We had an excellent first stay this week for my wife’s birthday, and we came away absolutely impressed with the whole experience. Location overlooking the marina is amazing. The food is really good, well presented, a broad selection of buffet self serve, and the restaurant staff are first class ! Reception staff were also really friendly. Will definitely come again.

La experiencia en el hotel Alay , tanto para mi madre como para mí ha sido maravillosa. En mi caso , como persona celíaca, el trato , el cuidado y la preocupación han sido un 10 sobre 10. En especial los camareros Jose , Paulo y Miguel , así como en cocina el chef Manolo , han estado muy pendientes de que estuviera bien y que no hubiera contaminación cruzada. El trato, la amabilidad , profesionalidad y cariño con el que nos han tratado supera al resto de hoteles en los que hemos estado. ¡Sin duda volveremos pronto ! Muy muy recomendable. A parte , las instalaciones así como la localización de este son estupendas.

Nuestra experiencia en este hotel ha sido muy mala desde el primer día. Nada más llegar tuvimos problemas porque no habían tenido en cuenta la nota enviada por BuscoUnChollo sobre los animales de compañía, lo que hizo que nos cobraran un importe superior al que habíamos contratado. Sin embargo, lo peor ha sido la falta de privacidad. Solo hoy han entrado en nuestra habitación tres veces sin motivo. La primera, mientras estábamos descansando, hasta el punto de que al despertarme la empleada ya estaba dentro de la habitación. La segunda vez me comentó que “a la jefa le gusta conocer a la gente” y preguntó si todo estaba bien, una situación muy extraña e incómoda. No es normal que el personal acceda tantas veces a una habitación ocupada. Además, cuando viajas con un perro, en nuestro caso un chihuahua de apenas 3 kg, el propio hotel indica que la limpieza debe realizarse cuando la habitación esté vacía. Nosotros siempre avisamos por la mañana para facilitar su trabajo, por lo que no había ninguna necesidad de entrar mientras estábamos dentro. Aún nos quedan cuatro días de estancia y, sin duda, es el peor hotel en el que nos hemos alojado. Habitualmente pasamos parte del día en la piscina del hotel y ahora incluso nos preocupa pensar si habrán entrado en la habitación cuando no estábamos. Quiero advertir especialmente a las personas que viajan con animales de compañía. Nuestra experiencia ha sido nefasta de principio a fin y la sensación de falta de privacidad ha sido muy desagradable. Mis cinco semanas de vacaciones al año son para disfrutar y, lamentablemente, estas han sido las peores con diferencia. Por supuesto, trasladaré todo lo ocurrido a BuscoUnChollo y dejaré esta reseña para que otras personas sepan lo que pueden encontrarse si deciden alojarse aquí, especialmente si viajan con su mascota.

We stayed at this hotel for 7 days. I’d like to start with the positives. Pros: * Excellent location next to Puerto Marina. There are plenty of shops, cafés, restaurants, a beautiful beach, and a lovely promenade within walking distance. * The hotel has a beautiful interior. The lobby, hallways, and restaurants are decorated with an impressive collection of artwork by different artists. * We had an issue with our room upon arrival. We booked a room with a terrace but were given one overlooking a construction site. Be careful, as these are different room categories. After speaking with the receptionist, we were offered another room the next day. Although the new room was actually less comfortable, we appreciate that the staff tried to resolve the situation. Cons: * The service at the pool bar was extremely slow. We waited about 40 minutes for one pizza and almost 50 minutes for another, and both arrived cold. Guests who ordered after us were served much earlier. The only explanation we received was that the chef was having a “crazy day.” * Housekeeping was disappointing. After the first cleaning, our towels were taken away but not replaced, the trash wasn’t emptied, shower gel wasn’t refilled, and our terrace, which had been dirty since the day we arrived, was still not cleaned. After calling reception, the issue was fixed. However, the same thing happened again after the next cleaning. The dirty towels we had left on the floor to be replaced were simply hung back up, and the shower gel and shampoo were never refilled. This is not what we expected from a hotel of this standard. * One thing that really surprised me was the hotel’s attitude toward animals. The hotel promotes itself as pet-friendly, has pet bowls, and even a donation box for homeless animals in Benalmádena. However, there are several small kittens living on the hotel grounds, and there is a sign next to their shelter telling guests not to feed them. This felt very contradictory and left a disappointing impression. Overall, we left with mixed feelings. Despite our experience with the hotel, we absolutely fell in love with Spain, and our trip was wonderful.

Aunque los primeros días no tubimos aire acondicionado en la habitación por una avería, el resto todo perfecto. Todos los empleados maravillosos: muy educados y atentos, las habitaciones muy cómodas, ámplias y super limpias. Los servicios de comida muy bien. Reseñable el desayuno: espectacular!! muy buena calidad y productos muy frescos. El equipo de los camareros super amables y simpáticos. Una estancia muy muy buena. Repetiremos seguro!
