This was my second visit to this hotel which is part of the Porto Mare Hotel. The location is beautiful, the views are stunning, and the amenities are of a high standard. Housekeeping is excellent, and the hotel is exceptionally well maintained. Unfortunately, during this stay, I experienced an issue that left me rather disappointed. I was travelling with my family, including my two-year-old child. At around 9:30 pm, we realised we were out of milk, so I approached a member of staff in the restaurant to request a small amount for my child’s bottle. I was informed, somewhat abruptly, that there would be a charge for this. Given the considerable amount we are paying to stay here, as well as the additional costs we incur for lunches and drinks outside of our half-board package, I found this response disheartening. When I raised the matter at reception, I was told this was hotel “policy,” which I find difficult to believe — particularly in a family-friendly establishment with several young children currently staying. In other hotels, such a small request has never been an issue, and I had expected the same level of courtesy and flexibility here. Overall, I felt the staff lacked a degree of personal warmth, empathy, and understanding, which detracted from what would otherwise have been an excellent stay. It is regrettable, as the hotel itself is beautiful and offers many positive attributes. However, this experience has left a lasting negative impression, and unfortunately, we will not be returning.

This hotel is so out dated, not worth the price. It is advertised as a 4 star only because the common areas are adequate but the rooms themselves do not compare to any 4 star in North America, Asia or other parts of Europe. The bathrooms are the worst part. Tiny, no ventilation and water splashes out when you shower since there is no full door enclosure. The rooms are all carpet which are old and look dirty. The beds are horrible, can't sleep at all. The staff at the front desk are not nice, very stuck up. Other reviews said location was good but it seems not as clean as closer to the maun Funchal area. This Lido area seems grungy, though there are lots of restaurant options they are all over priced. I suppose this would be a common option for many tourists on the island unless you can afford $30k USD a week at a place like Reids in order to get something comparable to standard high quality hotels in North America or Asia. Do not stay here.

Me and my partner spent 7 nights here and it was wonderful. The full board experience was great restaurant food was incredible the buffet had so much option the staff were incredibly friendly. Especially Mary at reception she was so kind and helpful. We had an issue on night 6 with our room and she arranged a new room instantly, she was apologetic and sincere and very chatty. The resort itself is fabulous. Great views of the sea. Indoor and out door pools spa mini golf lots of restaurant choices. Had two huge TVs playing the World Cup. The slight downside was I think the bathrooms could use an update the shower bath was abit cramped and dated compared to other hotels I’ve stayed at but the rooms were still amazing and even had little kitchens in. I left 4 star for staff as one member off the team in the buffet restaurant seemed slightly condescending to not just us but a few other people, however I do understand some people are naturally just like that and it wouldn’t make me bring down the 5 stars for this establishment. Overall I will definitely be back to hotel Eden mar!!

Très déçus par cet hôtel. Vu le prix, nous nous attendions à un vrai 4 étoiles avec des prestations haut de gamme, mais ce n’était pas du tout le cas. Les chambres sont vieillottes, peu chaleureuses et ne donnent pas une impression de standing. La propreté était correcte sans être irréprochable, et le ménage quotidien n’était pas particulièrement soigné. La salle de bain mériterait également un bon rafraîchissement. le matelas du lit catastrophique, s’affaisse complètement au milieu Nous avions choisi une chambre avec kitchenette pour pouvoir cuisiner. Malheureusement, elle était très mal équipée : pas de sel, pas d’huile, pas d’éponge, pas de liquide vaisselle… Difficile de réellement l’utiliser dans ces conditions. Même constat pour les équipements de la chambre : pas de machine à café, seulement une bouilloire avec du café soluble. Pour un hôtel de cette catégorie, c’est assez surprenant. Les points positifs : le petit-déjeuner était bon, la piscine extérieure est très agréable et la piscine intérieure chauffée est un vrai plus. Au final, le rapport qualité-prix est très décevant. Nous avons été choqués par le tarif demandé pour des prestations aussi basiques. À ce prix-là, il y a clairement mieux à Madère. Nous ne recommandons pas cet établissement.

This is an excellent hotel in a great location with first class facilities. The staff are very efficient, friendly and courteous. The food in each of the restaurants is plentiful, varied and delicious. The rooms are very comfortable and in good order. The hotel is very well maintained and very clean. The gardens are spacious and great to relax in. There is plenty of room for everyone and the hotel is peaceful and relaxing. Highly recommend it.

One of the best hotels I've been to by far. The staff were friendly especially those at the reception. The room was spacious and well equipped. There were restaurants and a supermarket nearby with reasonable prices. I was nervous that the hotel would be crowded as two other hotels have access to the facilities but that wasn't the case. Most of the time, I had the jacuzzi and indoor swimming pool to myself. The only downside was the dinner, I wish there were more variety for people who don't eat pork or beef. Will definitely be coming back again.
