Summer Island

Wir waren vom 24.07. bis 04.08.2026 für unsere Flitterwochen im Summer Island Maldives und haben insgesamt einen schönen Aufenthalt verbracht. Dennoch gibt es einige Punkte, die aus unserer Sicht deutlich verbessert werden sollten. Positiv hervorzuheben sind die Sauberkeit des Hotels und insbesondere unserer Premium Beach Villa. Die Zimmerreinigung war hervorragend und unser Room Cleaner ausgesprochen freundlich. Zu unserer Ankunft wurden wir mit einer Obstschale, einer Flasche Wein und einer schönen Dekoration auf dem Bett überrascht. Ebenfalls positiv fanden wir, dass Trinkwasser in Glasflaschen bereitgestellt wird und dadurch unnötiger Plastikmüll vermieden wird. Das Essen war stets frisch und lecker, wobei das Frühstück für europäische Gäste etwas eingeschränkt war. Die Auswahl an warmen Speisen und Currys war dafür groß. Die meisten Mitarbeiter waren freundlich und aufmerksam. Leider gab es aber auch einige Punkte, die den Aufenthalt getrübt haben. „All Inclusive“ ist hier nur sehr eingeschränkt zu verstehen. Bei den Getränken ist lediglich eine relativ kleine Auswahl an Standardgetränken enthalten. Zudem wurden uns bereits kurz nach der Ankunft und im weiteren Verlauf mehrfach kostenpflichtige „Special Promotions“ wie Seafood, BBQ oder Lobster-Dinner für teilweise weit über 100 USD angeboten. Nachdem wir bereits am ersten Tag abgelehnt hatten, wurden wir dennoch wiederholt darauf angesprochen, was wir als unangenehm empfanden. Sehr enttäuschend war für uns der Umgang mit den Essenszeiten. Bereits unmittelbar nach Ende der Frühstücks- oder Mittagszeit wurden Speisen weggeräumt, das Licht ausgeschaltet und die Musik deutlich lauter gestellt. Gleichzeitig wurden die Tische um die noch essenden Gäste herum abgeräumt und neu eingedeckt. Dadurch entstand sehr deutlich der Eindruck, dass man das Restaurant möglichst schnell verlassen soll. Besonders kritisch sehen wir den Zustand des Strandes. Dieser wurde während unseres Aufenthalts nach unserer Wahrnehmung nur einmal gereinigt. An vielen Stellen lagen scharfkantige Korallenbruchstücke und Plastik- bzw. angeschwemmter Müll. Bei einem Spaziergang um die Insel konnten wir problemlos eine komplette Tüte Plastikmüll sammeln. Auch Teile der Strandbefestigung waren sichtbar beschädigt bzw. herausgespült, sodass gefüllte Plastiksäcke am Strand lagen. Für eine ausgewiesene Barfußinsel auf den Malediven haben wir uns hier deutlich mehr erwartet. Auch zahlreiche Sonnenliegen waren stark verschmutzt oder in einem schlechten Zustand; einige Rattanliegen waren bereits komplett durchgelegen und beschädigt. Beim kostenlosen Schnorcheltrip fehlte vor Beginn leider jegliche Einweisung zum Verhalten im Wasser und insbesondere zum Schutz des Riffs. Wir mussten beobachten, wie Gäste mit ihren Flossen auf empfindlichen Korallen standen. Das Riff war zudem deutlich von Korallenbleiche betroffen und insgesamt nicht in einem guten Zustand. Gerade ein Hotel, das sich Nachhaltigkeit auf die Fahne schreibt, sollte hier aus unserer Sicht konsequenter handeln und Gäste entsprechend sensibilisieren. Bei unserer Ankunft hatten wir außerdem einen starken Ameisenbefall mit zahlreichen fliegenden Ameisen im Badezimmer. Positiv war allerdings, dass die Rezeption schnell reagierte und uns noch am selben Abend problemlos eine andere Villa zur Verfügung stellte. Insgesamt ist Summer Island Maldives eine schöne Anlage mit freundlichem Personal, gutem Essen und sehr sauberem Zimmer. Für eine Maledivenreise und insbesondere für den Anspruch einer nachhaltig ausgerichteten Barfußinsel sehen wir jedoch deutlichen Verbesserungsbedarf – vor allem beim Strand- und Müllmanagement, beim Zustand der Liegen, beim Schutz des Hausriffs und beim Umgang mit den Gästen während der Essenszeiten.

Úžasná dovolená. Tuto dovolenou jsme s manželkou zvolili kvůli odpočinku a pohodlí. Dle recenzí se nám to moc líbilo a cena byla přívětivá. Letenky jsme koupili sami, poté našli tento rezort a sami s hotelem domluvili na ubytování. Ubytováni jsme byli v pokoji s výhledem na moře a bylo to opravdu skvělé. Moc hezký ostrov, nádherný oceán, super obsluha už od nalodění na letišti tak po celou dobu našeho pobytu. Jediné zklamání bylo z recepce. Celkově chaos. Poptávali jsme alespoň na jednu noc chatu na moři. Celkově jsme to řešili asi 3x a vždycky na to nějak zapomněli, nedali vědět a pokaždé to bylo od znovu. Nakonec nám řekli, že musíme zaplatit znovu celou tu chatu, že nám nebudou brát v potaz to, že máme zaplacené ubytování v domě na pláži i přes to, že se jednalo o poslední noc a už tam klidně mohl být někdo jiný. O proti všem zaměstnancům, kteří byli fakt super se nám ta recepce zdála trochu horší. Jinak perfektní dovolená a jakmile pojedeme znovu na Maledivy. Rozhodně se vrátíme na toto místo. Moc děkujeme za krásný zážitek a úžasnou dovolenou Vám i vašemu týmu, který se o nás tak krásně staral.

So, having stayed in only a couple of Maldives resorts (4 stars) and many local islands guesthouses I would say this is at the same level of a local island guesthouse, but with better maintained surrounds and more expensive food/beverage. There are better 4 stars out there. Plus: they offer basic free snorkelling trips daily. The fishing is worth it when on sale price. Nice island overall. Nevatives: - The mattress of the beach Bungalows (don't know about other rooms) are extremely firm/hard, both of us had back pain for the entire week. You can literally feel the springs, no plush or topper of any kind. - there are A LOT of mosquitoes, even tropical strength repellent didn't help much. The traps scattered around the island don't do much, as again, I've had less mosquitoes on local islands who don't even have such devices. - the quality of food at Samuga is ok, nothing out of this world. The Bar drinks are absolutely overpriced and underwhelming. Using puree for smoothies that cost $12, when they could simply use frozen fruit (still long term storage benefit, but at least it would be actual fruit), $9 for a can of Schweppes. As I said, I've been at more value for money guesthouses on local islands, I think this resort is ok only on heavily discounted rates

What a fabulous island resort! As a solo traveller it gave me exactly what I needed. I have ADHD and can get overwhelmed very easily, however, this place was paradise. Nobody pestered you or bothered you, unless your glass was empty! From the moment you step on the speedboat, you’re cared for exquisitely, right up until the moment you step back off on your way home. The staff are absolutely fantastic. A huge special shoutout to ‘ Mahfesh’ (I’m hoping that’s his name!) he’s wonderful, after 1 day he knew my favourite place to sit, what drink I like, how I like it made, whether I have tea or coffee in a morning. He really made me feel at home. I stayed in 321, it was beautiful and very clean, morning cleaning was a little early for me, but after the first morning of putting my ‘do not disturb’ sign out, they came back later every single morning, most places still disturb you, no here, it’s great! All the staff say hello as they walk past, the icing on the cake for me is how they waved us off as our boat departed the island - very sweet! It’s a very peaceful island, with lots of nature, plenty of geckos, lizards, bats, Maldivian bird and of course the island heron. The pool was spotless every day without fail. Don’t pack shoes, you won’t wear them! The food is the best all inclusive food I’ve ever had, everything cooked to perfection, so much variety, beautiful salads, freshly cut fruit and beautiful deserts. Thank you so much for an amazing experience, because of this, I’ll be back next year.

We chose Summer Island Maldives for what was supposed to be the most special trip of our lives — our honeymoon. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the most disappointing travel experiences we’ve ever had. Yes, the island itself is beautiful, but the attitude of the staff completely ruined the atmosphere for us. From the moment we arrived, we felt unwelcome and ignored rather than cared for. Many employees were cold, unfriendly, and acted like helping guests was a burden. For a resort that markets itself as a dream destination, the hospitality was shockingly poor. What hurt the most was that this was our honeymoon. We expected warmth, kindness, and at least a little effort to make the experience feel special. Instead, we were met with indifference, slow service, lack of communication, and an overall feeling that guests simply didn’t matter. For the amount of money spent, this experience was far below expectations. A honeymoon should leave you with beautiful memories — sadly, ours was overshadowed by disappointment and the unprofessional attitude of the staff. We would not return, and honestly, we cannot recommend this resort to couples looking for a romantic or welcoming experience in the Maldives.

My stay at Summer Island Maldives was nothing short of magical. From the moment I arrived, everything about this island felt like exactly what I needed. Life moves slowly here—in the best possible way—and it gave me the space to truly relax, unwind, and reconnect with myself. The food was consistently excellent, with plenty of variety and flavors that made every meal something to look forward to. What really stood out, though, were the people. The staff were incredibly kind, warm, and genuinely welcoming, making the whole experience feel personal and heartfelt. Snorkeling is a must at Summer Island and easily one of the highlights of the stay. The underwater world is stunning, vibrant, and right at your doorstep—perfect for both beginners and experienced snorkelers. It’s an unforgettable way to experience the beauty of the Maldives. Summer Island truly felt like paradise to me. Peaceful, beautiful, and nourishing for the soul. I can’t wait to return.
