Baros Maldives

I visited Baros for my birthday celebration, but it wasn’t my first time in the Maldives. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a great experience. 1) We stayed in a water villa, and it was unpleasant having to walk every time. There were no buggies or bicycles, and it can be very uncomfortable and hot when the sun was high. It’s walkable, but there’s still some distance. 2) During our scuba diving course, the male instructor touched and squeezed my waist while I was getting fitted for my wetsuit. It was completely unnecessary and made me feel uncomfortable. If the wetsuit was too big or tight, I could tell him, he don’t have to touch me. 3) The villas were very close together, which meant we didn’t have much privacy. If you’ve been to other resorts in the Maldives, you’ll understand what I mean. 4) During dinner at the Lighthouse restaurant, one of the Indian waiters rolled his eyes at me while offering me bread. 5) The porridge I had for breakfast (picture 1) at Lime restaurant was completely different from what I had seen in other posts. It was basically water with a few pieces of rice. I’m not expecting the food to be amazing, but at least have some quality control. Overall, I don’t think Baros serve a 5-star hotel standard. The only pros are the house reef, which has a lot of fish and is bigger to explore, and the convenience of not having to take a sea plane.

An absolute paradise for our honeymoon! The room was beautiful and comfortable, with stunning ocean views. The house reef is incredible—we saw sea turtles, rays, sharks, and tons of tropical fish while snorkeling. The night snorkeling was also a super fun and unique experience! Food-wise, everything was excellent, and we highly recommend the beef dishes. Special thanks to our villa host, Bonan, for her outstanding service. She truly made our vacation unforgettable. Highly recommend Baros to everyone!

This place is spectacular or even Beyoncé great service great people and the best welcoming, this place feels like home expect it isn't, it's way more relaxing and heavenly green, surrounded by ocean breeze and the view, best butler/service was provided from sujata! 最高のハウスリーフと感動のホスピタリティ！ありがとう！バロスモルディブ！ 感動のホスピタリティ：スタッフ全員が笑顔でアットホーム。英語が苦手な私たちにゆっくり話してくれました。レストランのスタッフが主人のアイスコーヒー好きを覚えていて、最終日に頼み忘れたら声をかけてくれたのには驚きました。さらにバトラーのサイードさんには大変お世話になりました。私が軽ケガをした際もすぐに専属ドクターを手配してくれ、極めつけはチェックアウト後に出発まで過ごす部屋として、追加料金なしで元より遥かに豪華なスイートルームを用意してくれたことです。贅沢なサプライズに動揺しつつも、出発直前まで部屋の大きなプールで夢のような時間を過ごせました。 最高のハウスリーフ：バロスのハウスリーフ（サンゴ礁）は非常に豊かです。海水の透明度がとても高く、見事なサンゴや色とりどりの熱帯魚を堪能できました。シュノーケリングエリアには小さな沈没船があり、そのロマンチックな光景は忘れられません。さらに、滞在初日に、水上ヴィラのテラスから野生のウミガメを見ることもできました。現地でもとてもラッキーなことなのだそうです。 大満足の食事：滞在中は朝夕ともに「ライムレストラン」を利用。どれも私たちの口に驚くほど合い、毎食が本当に幸せでした。主人が何度もリピートしたエビのシーザーサラダは絶品です。 ライトハウスラウンジ：唯一追加料金で利用しましたが、遠くのマレのビル群と近くの美しい海、夕日のコントラストが素晴らしく、非常におすすめです。 決して安い旅行ではありませんが、価格を遥かに超える価値と感動をもらえる素晴らしいリゾートです。

In my opinion, this is a good four-star resort, but it is not a luxury five-star hotel. I booked it because of its exceptionally high ratings, which created expectations that were simply not met. The biggest disappointment was the food. This was not a matter of personal taste—it was the quality of the ingredients. For a resort in the Maldives, the fruit was surprisingly poor, with only the mangoes consistently tasting fresh and ripe. Breakfast offered very few good options, so I ended up eating the same dal curry and tuna sashimi almost every morning for two weeks. Most of the juices were not freshly made, which is difficult to justify at a hotel that positions itself as a five-star resort. Dinner was equally underwhelming. We booked half board, but portions were small, the quality was inconsistent, and I repeatedly ordered the same dish because it was one of the few acceptable options. Even that dish varied from day to day, with ingredients occasionally substituted due to shortages. Drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, were also priced exceptionally high, so despite having half board, we still spent a significant amount on food and beverages. The staff are friendly and well trained, but the facilities feel dated, and there are clear signs of cost-cutting, from the toiletries to the food quality. Housekeeping was also inconsistent: we often had to ask for fresh beach towels, remind staff to clean the outdoor area, and they would sometimes forget to replenish basic in-room items. The beach itself is beautiful, and the staff genuinely do their best. However, the overall experience did not justify either the price or the exceptionally high ratings. Had I booked it expecting a good four-star resort, I would probably have been satisfied. As a luxury five-star hotel, however, it fell well short of expectations.

From the moment we arrived, every staff member made us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. We were especially touched that many staff addressed us by name, which made our stay feel very personal and memorable. A special thank you to Ruvi, our butler, for her prompt, attentive and excellent service throughout our stay. She was always helpful, warm and efficient, making our experience seamless and enjoyable. We would also like to convey our sincere appreciation to Executive Chef LJ for preparing such a wonderful personalised dinner for us. The meal was beautifully prepared and truly memorable. A heartfelt thank you as well to Manager Hassan for kindly showing us around during the Maldivian Cultural Evening and sharing more about the local culture and traditions. We truly appreciated his warmth and hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed the activities organised by the resort, including the fishing competition and the various cultural programmes, which were very well arranged and enjoyable. The daily yoga sessions at the Lighthouse were especially peaceful and rejuvenating. Our villa was always very clean, comfortable and well maintained, and we were impressed by the delicious breakfast spread every morning with its excellent variety and quality. Thank you once again to the entire Baros team for making our stay such a beautiful and memorable experience. We truly enjoyed ourselves and hope to return again in the future.
