Amatara Welleisure Resort

We have been staying at Amatara for 16 nights in total, split into two stays (we returned for a 2nd stay two weeks after the 1st one because of aviation disruptions), and really loved it! The resort is geographically located on a cliff at Cape Panwa area in south-east Phuket, and it is a much more quiet and less crowded location than Kamala / Kata. The Cape Panwa sea and bay views are spectacular and because of the Cape’s topography, you can enjoy both sunrise and sunset from the resort! Both Banana Beach (Koh Hey island) and Phuket’s old town are nearby, which is a big plus. There’s also a small village right beneath the resort, with restaurants, 7-eleven, various shops and tour agencies. We stayed first in an ocean-view pool villa and for our 2nd stay we took the Cape Panwa room. Both were great - cape panwa room had the best views, and the villa was really beautifully designed, spacious and special, with a perfect private (and relatively large) infinity pool right in-front of the ocean, making our stay romantic and memorable. The resort’s facilities are very good, the main infinity pool is simply beautiful surrounded by greenery and overlooking the ocean, and we also enjoyed the romantic small private beach. Special thanks to Joy, Tong and Che from reception, who were super helpful, friendly, attentive and did way beyond our expectations, making both of our stays wonderful and memorable! Because our trip was extended due to the aviation disruptions, we also had to work during the stay. Joy helped us set up a comfortable working station in the room (big thanks!) and there is also a library where you can work. One note though: the resort transformed its breakfast from buffet-based to menu-based (with a smaller buffet): in our first stay they still had just the buffet and when we came back after two weeks they’ve introduced the menu, so we had the rare chance to actually compare the two versions. Although it was really nice to have a menu with special breakfast options, this has notably came with some issues, such as wrong dishes coming out of the kitchen and it was sometimes difficult to find a staff member to order or request something, and sometimes it felt a bit chaotic. That said, it is totally understandable that such transformation will accompany by a bunch of challenges, and I’m certain they will be resolved. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and we would happily come back!

We began this Thailand journey at Amatara in Phuket. There were wellness classes, beautiful natural grounds, and a feeling that people were genuinely happy to see one another. What stood out most was the warmth of the staff, their graciousness, their gratitude, and the quiet way they preserved and expressed something deeply rooted in Thai culture. We enjoyed great breakfast buffet and amazing classes included in the booking. The rooms were suite like enthusiasm st entry level done tastfully in classic Thai beauty. The grounds impeccably maintained. And don't miss the beach@ we unfortunately did until last hour but it's heaven on earth. Special thanks for Top, Joy, Aziz, Max, Tom and Aui for going above and beyond. The rest of the staff were amazing also. We were there at same time as yoga with Bri and enjoyed one of the classes. What an amazing stay. We will definitely be back ❤️

Wir waren 14 Tage im Amatara Resort und haben in einem Pool Pavilion gewohnt. Positiv: Die Lage des Resorts ist traumhaft – sehr schön, abgelegen und mit einem fantastischen Blick aufs Meer. Das gesamte Anwesen wirkt großzügig, exklusiv und gepflegt. Die Zimmer sind schön gestaltet, das Gelände ist weitläufig und der Buggy-Service funktioniert zuverlässig. Der Check-in war schnell und unkompliziert. Besonders hervorheben möchten wir das sehr freundliche Personal, vor allem Niu, die äußerst kompetent und hilfsbereit war. Das Sportangebot ist sehr gut, mit vielen Kursen, die seit dem 1. Januar kostenfrei angeboten werden – ein großes Plus. Negativ / Verbesserungspotenzial: Insgesamt wäre eine größere Investition in Renovierungs- und Modernisierungsarbeiten notwendig, da sich der Zustand in mehreren Bereichen bemerkbar macht (Zimmer, Gym, allgemeine Infrastruktur). Während unseres Aufenthalts hatten wir mehrere kleinere Probleme im Zimmer (verstopfte Toilette, Minibar nicht nachgefüllt, kurzzeitiger Stromausfall, Cola nicht gegen Cola Zero austauschbar). Als Entschuldigung gab es einen Obstteller. Der Frühstücksservice war leider unaufmerksam: In den zwei Wochen mussten wir unsere Getränke stets aktiv nachbestellen und wurden nicht einmal angesprochen, Zusatzspeisen wie Eggs Benedict wurden ebenfalls nicht proaktiv angeboten. Die Auswahl ist zwar groß und qualitativ gut, allerdings waren einige Speisen nicht richtig warm. Insgesamt entspricht das Frühstück für uns nicht ganz einem klassischen Fünf-Sterne-Niveau. Zudem waren viele laute Kinder beim Frühstück und am Pool, was die Ruhe deutlich beeinträchtigt. Für ein „Wellness / Welleisure Resort“ wäre ein Adults-Only-Konzept unserer Meinung nach passender. Am Pool wurde teilweise auch geraucht bzw. gevaped. Ein weiterer Punkt ist, dass sich am Pool viele Krähen aufhalten, die die Liegen verschmutzen. Hier wäre eine konsequentere Reinigung und Betreuung des Bereichs wünschenswert. Im Fitnessbereich wäre ebenfalls eine Renovierung und Ausweitung auf eine größere Fläche sowie eine bessere Wasserbereitstellung wünschenswert (aktuell nur ein Automat). Ich war bereits vor etwa 10 Jahren hier, als das Resort noch zur Regent-Gruppe gehörte. Seitdem hat es leider etwas an Exklusivität verloren – was sehr schade ist, da eigentlich alle Voraussetzungen (Lage, Konzept, Anlage) für ein herausragendes Luxusresort erfüllt sind. Fazit: Trotz der genannten Kritikpunkte hatten wir insgesamt einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt. Mit gezielten Investitionen und Renovierungen könnte das Amatara Resort problemlos wieder an seine frühere Spitzenklasse anknüpfen.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Amatara Wellness Resort in Phuket, and it was an experience I will cherish forever. While the bedrooms could benefit from a touch of TLC, the warmth and dedication of the staff truly elevated my stay to another level. One standout was Joy, whose exceptional service made my time at Amatara unforgettable. She went above and beyond to ensure I felt special, even helping me locate an artist to duplicate a beautiful painting I had fallen in love with during my visit to the elephant sanctuary. Her kindness and attention to detail left a lasting impression on me – I can't praise her enough! At the spa, Bee was my rock. She tailored all the treatments to my specific needs, demonstrating a genuine commitment to my well-being. It was clear that she worked from her heart, and I left feeling rejuvenated and cared for. While all the staff were wonderful, Joy and Bee truly felt like friends by the end of my stay. I can't wait to return to Amatara for another wellness program, as it exceeded all my expectations. I highly recommend the Stress and Burnout Program to anyone seeking a transformative experience. Our stay at Amatara Wellness Resort was genuinely unforgettable. Set in the quiet Cape Panwa area, the resort feels wonderfully secluded, far from the busier Patong scene, yet close enough if you're willing to hop in a cab for a night out. That calm, slower pace was exactly what we needed. Each morning started with an amazing breakfast, a generous buffet alongside an à la carte menu where we could order anything we liked. The live egg station was a lovely touch and everything we tried was fresh and delicious. We tried almost everything on the menu, and each dish was was delicious. The infinity pool has these sweeping views that make you want to linger for hours. And the small private beach, with beach activities open until high tide, felt like a hidden gem, complete with swings that add a playful, almost whimsical vibe. The suite itself was spacious, beautifully maintained, and stocked with all the little comforts, including daily minibar refills with soft drinks, snacks, and even coconut water, small details that make a big difference. The resort also offers daily activities to indulge in their fitness center 'Synergy'. There are wide range of activities ranging from Yoga, exercises, posture related, back relief, kick boxing etc. What stood out most, though, was the people. Every staff member greeted us with genuine warmth and went out of their way to help, always with a smile that felt sincere. If you're looking for a place that blends comfort, tranquility, and heartfelt hospitality, Amatara is it. We left feeling recharged and already talking about coming back.

This is the best hotel I've ever stayed at. I was upgraded to a bigger suite with it being the low season which was really appreciated. The bed was huge and comfy, and the aircon worked really well. The bathroom was well equipped with a bath and shower over and a separate rainfall shower cubicle (which was massive). The breakfast buffet was extensive, and they also had an a la carte menu with some nice options like pandan pancakes with coconut ice cream. The pool was beautiful (although I didn't go in) and there were plenty of lounge chairs. Lunch and dinner went down well - everything was well cooked. There is also a very small private beach which is good for swimming or relaxing in and the hotel provides water sport activities like paddle boarding (I believe these were free of charge in the low season). Managed to use the gym which was well equipped for a hotel with free weights, cardio machines, resistance machines, and had classes available. The infrared sauna and steam room were nice after a hard workout. The Spa and wellness centre was beautiful. I got a physio check-up and oil massage which was slightly cheaper than in the UK (but expensive for Thailand). The whole experience was worthwhile - I was provided with tea before and after my massage and was well looked after. The physio appointment came about because of a chat I had with Nui about the world cup at breakfast and they got it booked for me. When I went back separately for a message, I was given special attention for my ankle.
