We booked this trip on the 15th and arrived on the 16th to celebrate our daughter’s birthday. As a Diamond Elite member, I asked if there were any upgrade options since the hotel seems pretty empty this time of year, but was told no. There was also no birthday recognition for our daughter, which honestly wasn’t a great start to the stay. The lobby is nice and clean, but the room itself has been a little disappointing. The floor feels dirty enough that you’ll want to wear slippers, the AC is pretty loud, and the room has a humid, musty smell. The room is spacious though, which is a plus. The pools are clean and the beach looks nice, but there’s currently so much seaweed that getting into the water isn’t really possible. Just confirmed with the staffs, the beach is closed. Overall, our experience has been underwhelming so far, and based on what we’ve seen, I wouldn’t recommend this property at the moment. We’ll be staying until Friday and hope the remainder of our stay is a better experience. UPDATE: The front desk later upgraded our room to an ocean view and arranged a birthday cake for our daughter, which was delivered on the 17th (her birthday was on the 16th, and we checked in on the 16th). The General Manager also left a public reply with an apology, which we appreciated. The ocean view room was really nice. It felt newer and better maintained than the standard room, and there was no odor at all even in the humid weather. It turned out to be a very comfortable space and we actually enjoyed it a lot. Even though the celebration came a day late, we really appreciated the effort from the team, and my daughter was still happy to receive the birthday recognition. Overall, while our initial experience was disappointing, the recovery definitely improved how we feel about the property.

Technically, the seaweed issue isn’t the hotel’s fault, but it was still a huge disappointment since we chose this resort mainly for the beach. The hotel staff worked hard to remove the seaweed every day, but unfortunately it made very little difference because of how much kept washing ashore. Another issue was the room assignment. I booked an Ocean View room with two double beds, but the initial room had a heavily obstructed view—most of what we saw was trees and the pool, with only a small glimpse of the ocean. After I raised the issue, the staff moved us to a room with a much better view, but it was a king bed with a rollaway instead of the two proper beds I had reserved. I appreciated their effort to resolve the situation, but it still wasn’t quite what I had booked. I later noticed that other guests had reported similar issues with the Ocean View category. This hotel has a low tower and a high tower, and in my experience, the ocean view from the low tower can be very limited, while the view from the high tower is much better. I’m not sure whether this is a general issue at this property, but it seemed like the double-bed Ocean View rooms may have less desirable views, while the better ocean views are reserved for king rooms. If you’re booking an Ocean View room, I would recommend being very specific about requesting an unobstructed view and clarifying whether the room is in the high tower or low tower. Some rooms may not match what you’d reasonably expect from an Ocean View category. Overall, the service was responsive and the staff tried to help, but the combination of the obstructed “ocean view” room and the severe seaweed conditions made this stay less enjoyable than we had hoped. The beach also should be much more enjoyable at the right season.

I'm currently staying here. Definitely NOT a 5 star hotel. I've stayed in 4 stars that are better than this. It's fairly clean, but Definitely getting outdated. I booked an ocean view and the video attached is what was provided. I spoke to them and thankfully was placed in a more appropriate ocean view. However, the staff said that the room they provided at first is labeled under their list of ocean view, which I think is absurd because it clearly isn't...at least not on that damn floor. So be wary when booking their "ocean view" there's a chance you may not be able to fight it because they built their system deceptively. The rooms are surprisingly small, but fine for one person. I have the king size ocean view. Their restaurants...eh. overpriced for nothing. The beach front is fine and nothing spectacular. They really should take off the "5 star" they placed in their description.

Tuvimos una increíble estancia en el hotel, todos fueron muy amables, el servicio al cliente es excelente. Las instalaciones se encuentran en excelentes condiciones, los rondines de limpieza se hacen bastante seguido, por lo que siempre están limpias. Cuentan con varias opciones de restaurantes, por lo que no es necesario salir del hotel si no se desea. Es totalmente accesible a usuarios con discapacidad, cuenta con accesos en rampa para todas las ubicaciones, elevadores hacia albercas… recomiendo ampliamente el hotel, fue una muy grata estancia.

Our stay at InterContinental Presidente Cancun Resort was absolutely outstanding. The views were incredible, the service was top-tier, and the beach is hands down the best in all of Cancun. Soft sand, beautiful water, and a relaxing atmosphere made it hard to leave. My wife travels often and always stays with IHG, and her status was truly recognized here. The waitstaff and team treated her with so much appreciation and respect — they even told her it was an honor to serve her. That level of hospitality made the experience feel extra special. From start to finish, everything exceeded expectations. We can’t wait to come back for another stay in paradise.

This is an older hotel. We originally were staying in the JW Mariott, which has a much more modern design and more tropical 5 star vibe. At First I was a little dissapointed, but I started to really like this IHG hotel. While its older, it has. Retro 60s/70s vibe like the TWA hotel at JFK that really works. The rooms are clean and spacious. The designs of the hallways are triangular, giving it a very individual feel. The club is nice and breakfast is also very nice. The staff are friendly. I am pleasantly suprised with my stay and will definitely consider coming back. Downsides: The pools are square and do not connect. They are also above 100⁰F water temperature. For any upgrades the resort could make Id suggest changing the square pools to free form pools and connecting both with a lazy river.
