Lebensgefahr und null Unterstützung vom Hotelmanagement! Wir haben hier eine absolut schreckliche Erfahrung gemacht, vor der ich jeden Hotelgast dringend warnen muss. Als wir auf dem Weg zum Strand und dem dazugehörigen Restaurant waren (direkt gegenüber dem Hoteleingang, zwischen den Riu-Anlagen), ist ein großer Stromverteilerkasten mit einem heftigen Knall explodiert. Die Druckwelle war so stark, dass wir von den Beinen gerissen wurden und ich zu Boden geschleudert wurde. Mein Vater und ich standen nur Haaresbreite entfernt – wie eine Granate, so extrem war der Druck. Man mag sich nicht ausmalen, was passiert wäre, wenn wir genau in der Sekunde einen halben Meter weiter links gestanden hätten. Es gab zu dem Zeitpunkt keinerlei Absperrung oder Warnung, erst nach dem Vorfall wurde ein Flatterband gezogen. Als wir danach völlig unter Schock zur Rezeption gegangen sind, um den Vorfall zu melden und unsere beschädigten Sachen (Rußflecken auf der Leinenhose, aufgeraute und kaputte Wildleder-Loafer vom Sturz) zu zeigen, wurden wir eiskalt abgewimmelt. Die Begründung: Das sei ja außerhalb des Hotels und nicht ihr Problem – und das, obwohl der Kasten direkt vor dem Hoteleingang auf dem Weg zum hoteleigenen Strandbereich explodiert ist. Das Einzige, was angeboten wurde, war das Waschen der Hose und Loafer (was bei echtem Wildleder natürlich nicht mal bei den Schuhen geht). Solch eine grobe Fahrlässigkeit bei der Infrastruktur und ein derart ignoranter Umgang mit Gästen nach einem lebensgefährlichen Unfall sind schlicht unentschuldbar. Nie wieder Riu Tequila!

Just got back from our stay at the Riu Tequila in Mexico. Worst experience ever. We are retired so we like to travel . The hotel was so HOT I thought I was going to pass out. It was 24 degrees Fahrenheit. Which is about 75 degrees. and very low on the speed. The whole hotel lobby and rooms. They turned the A/C up to 75 all day then at 6/00 pm it would turn it back on to 73.

Our group stayed at this resort for spring break and unfortunately it was a really disappointing experience. First, the room cleanliness was not acceptable. When we arrived, the beds had visible stains, hair, and fuzz all over them, and the entire room had a musty, old smell that never went away during our stay. The food situation is also very misleading. There are four “restaurants,” but three of them are buffet-style. Because of that, there’s very little actual service, yet staff still expect tips constantly. On top of that, many of the cups had a noticeable fishy smell which made it hard to even enjoy water. If you’re coming for spring break or a party atmosphere, this is definitely not the place. There is only one small club in the resort, and it’s tiny and only open for three hours. After that, there’s basically nothing to do at night. The resort itself is also very small and overcrowded. There are only three pools, and they are completely full by around 8 AM. If you don’t wake up early to claim a spot, you’ll struggle to find anywhere to sit. It feels like the resort has way too many guests for the space available. Another frustrating issue is that there are two other RIU resorts on the same street, and their guests are allowed to come use this property. That means the already limited space gets even more crowded, leaving the actual guests with even fewer places to relax. The service overall was very average. Staff don’t really go above and beyond, and the only time service noticeably improves is when you tip. One concerning moment happened when my friend and I had clearly had too much to drink and asked a staff member for water. Instead of helping, he brought us more shots and laughed, telling us we needed more tequila. If you’re planning a spring break trip, I would strongly recommend choosing a different resort. This one is small, overcrowded, has mediocre food, questionable cleanliness, and very little nightlife. Every day felt exactly the same because there simply isn’t much to do. Save your money and choose a better resort.

Went as kind of a romantic refresh. The rooms were very nice and the villa setup spaces everyone out nicely. We went during memorial day weekend and the place was packed (mostly brits), however there was still plenty of space for us no matter where we went. Food was very good, and the prepackaged food in the sports bar was a nice touch (easy to take to beach). Staff was excellent. Party vibe for sure, but was chill enough. Thank you!

Experiencia en resumen bastante satisfactoria. Como puntos positivos, el hotel está en una ubicación inmejorable rodeado de vegetación y fauna salvaje pero totalmente seguro. El servicio es muy atento y hemos quedado muy contentos con todos y cada uno de las personas que trabajan en el hotel. En especial el equipo de animación me parece de lo mejorcito que he visto!! Son unos cracks!! Comida bastante buena para ser un resort aunque es verdad que algo repetitiva, es recomendable usar los restaurantes temáticos para variar un poco. Como puntos a mejorar: - En general en muchas ocasiones da la sensación de que es un hotel montado por y para británicos. Siendo una cadena española en un país mexicano se echaba en falta un poquito más de folclore hispano…. Pero se que es un tema complicado porque ellos son un % alto de la clientela… - Nuestra habitación estaba INFESTADA de mosquitos en nuestra llegada, la primera noche conté al menos una veintena de ellos… el resto de días había menos pero es que hay criaderos en algunas de las entradas de las habitaciones y se cuelen al abrir la puerta, ya seas tú o los de la limpieza. Tienen que cuidar un poco mejor esto porque tengo el cuerpo lleno de picaduras. - Las habitaciones necesitan una reforma. Pero en general repetiríamos encantados, a poder ser en otra habitación sin tanto acceso de mosquitos :)

We had an amazing time. Even the short ride to the beach was fun. The driver was so personable. And it was only less than 3 minutes to get there. The swim up bar bartenders were awesome. All the staff were great. Our room was cleaned thoroughly everyday and we had a little teddy made out of towels left every day. It was so nice. Will definitely return to this location
