Let me start with the property. While it may be a bit older, this place has been meticulously maintained. We had a jr. suite it was spacious and exceptionally clean. The bathroom was dated, but nice. The staff was beyond our expectations. Very nice and accommodating. It felt like they genuinely cared. The food was amazing overall. The steaks were cooked to perfection! There were a couple of individual items that weren’t great, in particular they have no idea what Italian food is. That said I’m admittedly an Italian food snob…. I’m sure most people would like it. My only complaint was the transportation from the airport. It was a 45 minute wait for the minibus and it was another hour to get to our hotel because we had to stop at multiple other hotels before we finally got there. Overall I would absolutely come back. This may be a 5 star hotel, but it isn’t the Ritz either.

Una experiencia inolvidable – Servicio de primer nivel en Riu Palace Las Américas: Después de haber viajado por varios destinos en México, como Ciudad de México, Playa del Carmen y Puerto Vallarta, visitamos Cancún por primera vez y nuestra estancia en el Riu Palace Las Américas fue verdaderamente especial. Desde nuestra llegada, quedamos gratamente sorprendidos por la atención del personal desde la puerta. La belleza del hotel y su impecable limpieza son espectaculares. Si bien el servicio en general en todo el hotel fue excelente, deseo hacer una mención especial a los siguientes colaboradores, quienes fueron más allá de la excelencia y marcaron la diferencia con su dedicación: Recepción: El servicio fue profesional y muy paciente. Una mención especial para Marie, Irasema y Sebastián Carmona por su amabilidad y atención constante. Restaurante Mexicano: La comida es extraordinaria, digna de una estrella Michelin. Quiero hacer una mención especial a Sebastián, así como a todo el equipo de meseras y a las chefs, cuya labor culinaria es simplemente de otro nivel. Bar La Nuit: Los cócteles estaban deliciosos y preparados de forma experta; además, recibimos un servicio al cliente excepcional por parte de Lorena. Bar Piscina: El ambiente y el servicio fueron perfectos. Gracias a Julián, Eduardo, Wilbber y Hugo. Servicio de Habitación: Nuestra habitación estaba impecable, era hermosa y contaba con una vista espectacular. Debo reconocer a Marina Esteban por su excelente servicio de limpieza y mantenimiento diario; su dedicación hizo que todo se mantuviera al más alto nivel. Entretenimiento: Y ni hablar de las Riu Party, ¡una fiesta a otro nivel! Adicionalmente, el transporte otorgado por la cadena Riu para nuestros traslados al aeropuerto fue puntual, respetuoso y muy profesional. El Riu Palace Las Américas superó todas nuestras expectativas y no tenemos más que excelentes palabras para describir nuestra experiencia. ¡Altamente recomendado!

We had a decent stay at Riu Palace Las Americas. I will likely recommend other resorts in the future. The drink & serving staff was excellent, and the outdoor staff did their best to make things fun despite a thunderstorm causing multiple port closures for water activities. But there were many other issues. The biggest issue was the food quality. The food at the buffets was greasy, and if it didn’t cause my wife & I diarrhea, it caused us constant bloating. I had diarrhea 7 or 8 times in the 6 nights we were there, and my wife about 5 times, and still has stomach issues right now due to it (one day later). The front desk wasn’t particularly helpful with it either. No one seemed to care, as if it was commonplace. Maybe it is? We’ve heard stories of food poisoning at resorts, but we didn’t know it was quite this bad. Keep in mind, my wife and I are both young healthy honeymooners as well. Food was left out lukewarm for hours. We got diarrhea from the restaurant food as well, though that was supposed to be fresher. They don’t care much for food safety here it seems. Another issue or misunderstanding was I expected the beach to be a higher priority than it was here. There was a lot of seaweed after the thunderstorm, and while cleaning was done, a lot was left in the waters. We took a stop to Riu Caribe and it was much cleaner, well-kept and lively, though that’s a very party-heavy resort. Perhaps a difference in location helped them but it was nice to see there. Other highlights were in the lounge bar. The live piano was excellent and a nice touch, and the bar staff very friendly. I heard the stage performances were fun as well, despite my wife & I not attending. It was a quite relaxed resort for the most part, which is what we were looking for. The rooms were nice and cleaned well also, however there’s no fans in the washroom, which, if you are planning to go, might not be the most romantic for your partner to smell after you eat haha If the food was better, we would look to return someday, but I don’t think I would do that to our stomachs again.

Everything was fantastic, the hotel was beautiful, the service was fantastic , the room very very clean and discos with ocean View. The water was amazing, clear , fishes were swimming around us. The best water I have seen in the long time. . The only problem was that the bigger food the same. Although a lot of choices, it could better quality.

Nuestra estancia en este hotel de la cadena RIU fue, en términos generales, muy satisfactoria. Lo primero que destaca es que se trata de un hotel exclusivo para adultos, ideal para quienes buscan un ambiente tranquilo y sin la presencia de menores de edad. Durante nuestra visita, la mayoría de los huéspedes tenían entre 40 y 60 años, aunque también había algunos adultos jóvenes de entre 20 y 30 años. Las instalaciones se encuentran en muy buen estado y mantienen una decoración de estilo clásico que resulta elegante. El hotel no es demasiado grande, lo que facilita desplazarse cómodamente desde el lobby hasta la playa en apenas unos minutos. Además, gran parte de sus áreas están adaptadas para personas con movilidad reducida. Otro punto a favor son las vistas: desde los pasillos de acceso a las habitaciones se aprecia la laguna Nichupté y, desde la mayoría de las habitaciones, se disfruta de una excelente vista al mar. Las habitaciones merecen una calificación de 8.5/10. Son cómodas y cuentan con servicio a la habitación, minibar surtido y dispensadores de bebidas alcohólicas como ron, tequila, vodka y ginebra. Sin embargo, presentan algunos detalles que podrían mejorarse, como una televisión que no es Smart TV, pocos canales disponibles, un control remoto en mal estado, únicamente dos enchufes eléctricos sin puertos USB y una lámpara del baño con señales de humedad o moho. La playa es, sin duda, uno de los mayores atractivos del hotel y merece un 10/10. Durante nuestra estancia en julio de 2026 prácticamente no hubo problemas con el sargazo, y el poco que llegaba durante la noche era retirado muy temprano por el personal. Hay suficientes camastros con sombrillas para los huéspedes, permitiendo disfrutar del mar con comodidad. Las albercas y áreas comunes reciben un 9/10. El hotel dispone de tres albercas climatizadas muy limpias, con abundantes camastros, por lo que no es necesario levantarse temprano para apartar lugares, práctica que además está prohibida. Las toallas siempre estuvieron en excelente estado y los meseros recorrían constantemente las áreas ofreciendo bebidas, con tiempos de espera menores a diez minutos. Entre las 11:00 y las 14:00 horas también se ofrecen snacks cerca del área de entrega de toallas. El único aspecto negativo fue encontrar algunos camastros deteriorados que deberían ser retirados por mantenimiento. En cuanto a la oferta gastronómica, la calificación es 9.5/10. El buffet principal ofrece desayunos, comidas y cenas con alimentos típicos de hoteles en México, además de una amplia variedad de bebidas. También existen restaurantes de especialidad italiana, mexicana, japonesa y de carnes, todos sin necesidad de reservación; basta con llegar y esperar mesa, aunque al acudir a la hora de apertura prácticamente no tuvimos que esperar. Cerca del lobby también hay una cafetería con bebidas calientes, frías y postres. La única observación es que el buffet de la cena podría ofrecer una mayor variedad de platillos. La atención del personal merece un 10/10. Todos los empleados fueron muy amables, atentos y siempre dispuestos a ayudar. Además, como huésped mexicano, fue agradable comprobar que no existía un trato preferencial hacia los turistas extranjeros ni ningún tipo de discriminación. Finalmente, un aspecto poco mencionado es el traslado gratuito entre el aeropuerto y el hotel, incluido en algunas tarifas. Aunque representa un importante ahorro, existen algunos detalles que conviene conocer. Las instrucciones para localizar al representante en el Aeropuerto de Cancún no coincidían exactamente con la realidad, lo que dificultó encontrarlo. El transporte es compartido con huéspedes de otros hoteles RIU, por lo que pueden existir tiempos de espera adicionales y varias paradas antes de llegar al destino. Asimismo, para el traslado de regreso es indispensable acudir con anticipación al módulo de atención dentro del hotel para programar el servicio y presentarse puntualmente el día de salida, ya que el transporte espera solo unos minutos antes de retirarse.

Came here with my friend and we’ve had a great stay so far! No complaints really. The resort is definitely on the quieter side, but that’s perfect if you’re looking to relax. The beach is beautiful with calm, clear blue water, and the music around the pool and beach creates such a nice atmosphere. If you want more nightlife, you can always go to the RIU parties at the other resorts, which is a great option. The service has been great, especially Filipe on the beach. He’s always friendly, quick and determined with the orders, and does a great job even when it’s busy. Would definitely recommend this resort!
