Coral Level at Iberostar Selection Bavaro

We chose this hotel purely based on the reviews. With a 4.9 out of 5,500 people, you would say it is amazing and very luxurious, but... I don't understand that rating at all. Before I start with the downsides of our stay, I want to say that we had a great time and enjoyed every day. But this hotel is absolutely not worth 5 stars. Room: We stayed in a room close to the beach. The ocean view was amazing (apart from the people playing beach volleyball right in front of us). But the room was very dirty, and it still was when we left (see photos). The shower temperature was impossible to regulate. The water jumped from cold to extremely hot as soon as you touched the tap. The toilet barely flushed and it took 5 minutes before you could flush again. Several lights (bathroom and balcony) did not work. Paint came off the balcony (and stuck to your arms). Maybe we were just unlucky with the room (which needs to be renovated). Food and drink: Free water is available; you get a bottle that you can refill yourself. But it literally tasted like plastic! It made us nauseous. We went to the reception to complain and they gave us a "fresh" bottle, but it had the same terrible taste. Fortunately, we discovered that the water in the Mexican restaurant was good, so we took it from there instead of the taps in the park. The red wine was sometimes served with ice?! Even in the à la carte restaurants. In the French restaurant, they didn't know what a Chardonnay was (which was actually funny). More than once we had to replace the cutlery because it was too dirty to use. The food was different from what was described on the menu (missing things). It is difficult to communicate in English. As an American tourist said: "You are always a surprise what you get." Pool: There were fine towels by the pool, but there were also towels you wouldn't expect in a 5-star resort. Full of holes (see photos). Cleaning: I saw the cleaning staff sleeping/lying on the stairs in front of the room multiple times, or just checking their phones. This happened more than once, so it is no coincidence. Some things in the room were dirty when we arrived and were still dirty when we left (see photos). There were hairs hanging out of the toilet after cleaning. The tissues and the minibar were not refilled. We had to ask the reception, and they literally didn't understand the word "tissues" and gave us printer paper :) And finally... when we checked out, we asked the reception to take our suitcases out of the room. But we were sent back to do it ourselves. Wow... this is supposed to be a 5-star luxury resort. Despite all the downsides, we still enjoyed our vacation. To us, it was a 2- or 3-star hotel, but the staff did their best to make it pleasant. And some of the things that went wrong actually were funny and we could laugh about it.

Unser Aufenthalt in diesem Hotel war von A bis Z einfach sensationell! Bereits das Zimmer hat uns vollkommen begeistert traumhaft schön eingerichtet und mit einem direkten Blick aufs Meer und den Strand. Einfach ein Traum zum Aufwachen! Das gesamte Personal war einwandfrei: unglaublich höflich, herzlich und jederzeit hilfsbereit. Besonders positiv aufgefallen ist uns auch die Kinderfreundlichkeit man hat sich als Familie rundum wohlgefühlt. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis war absolut gut. Die angebotenen Aktivitäten waren abwechslungsreich und super organisiert von Yoga bis Bachata-Tanzen war wirklich für jeden etwas dabei. Auch das Abendprogramm war jeden Tag ein Highlight. Die All-Inclusive-Drinks waren ebenfalls hervorragend, mit originalem Alkohol und wirklich guter Qualität. Kulinarisch blieb ebenfalls kein Wunsch offen. Es gab sowohl à la carte Restaurants als auch Buffet, alles frisch und sehr lecker. Für drei Spezialitätenrestaurants musste man vor Ort reservieren, was aber problemlos funktioniert hat und auch dort war das Essen sensationell. Besonders praktisch fanden wir auch den Fahrdienst, die einen bequem von A nach B gebracht haben. Kurz gesagt: wirklich top, top, top! Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen und können dieses Hotel zu 100 % weiterempfehlen.

This will be my 1st and last time here. The coral bar service was slow and terrible (from someone who’s been serving/bartending for 10 years and paid extra to stay in coral), we went to visit el tapitio for dinner one night, we were sat by the host and still didn’t have drinks or apps after nearly an hour & the coral helper lady Daniella was the icing on the cake. She had the worst communication Ive ever seen, would open messages and never respond. It was the day before departure before we could coordinate pickup time to get the the airport after our husbands had been to ask people at least 4 seperate times. Finally my friend and I went to the desk ourselves after they got back where Daniella pretty much said our husbands came and talked but she didn’t know (telling them it was taken care of, it wasn’t) we finally got her to fix it. She was terrible. We have maybe a HANDFUL of good servers/baretenders the whole time. I have 2 free massage vouchers that can only be used mid day. They’re gonna have to do better than that at this rate. I’ve been in the hospitality industry for quite a while and am usually the most lenient when it comes to these situations, but I’m over it. Hemos pasado una semana en familia en un lugar INCREIBLE. El hotel es muy lindo, habitaciones espaciosas y muy confortables. Una mención especial para Dilania que se encargaba de nuestra habitación, siempre todo impecable. La playa es hermosa, el poco zargaso que habia , lo limpiaban permanentemente. El staff de entrenamiento un 10, es especial FRESA y LULU. Siempre buena onda y buscando que todos la pasen bien. Una mención especial a la calidad , variedad de comida y atención del Restaurante El Faro. Quiero destacar la profesionalidad de Javier y Piron, siempre atentos a que todo estuviera 10 puntos. Recomiendo mucho para cenar El Faro tanto cuando es buffet o a la carta y Salt & Soul es exquisito. En cuanto a los restaurantes temáticos son buenos, pero nada que deslumbre. Desde el momento que llegamos nos atendieron de maravillas. Gracias Iberostar Selection Coral Bavaro por los dias maravillosos que pasamos.

This was our second time in the Dominican Republic but first time staying with Iberostar. The first time we were here we stayed at the hard rock and I can say that our stay with Iberostar been so much better than our stay at the hard rock. We specifically stayed at the Iberostar selection coral. The facilities here are incredible, with comfortable beach cabanas and sunbeds , where you can always find room to sit it is never overcrowded, and beautiful pool loungers which again you’re always guaranteed a spot. Everything feels so luxurious and well thought out, nothing about the hotel felt cheap. The staff were incredible, the friendliest staff we have ever encountered at a hotel before, and ensuring that we always had whatever we needed, making the stay even more enjoyable. The atmosphere is just so calming and we could truly chill out and relax at this hotel. The food was again incredible, with so many options each day including freshly cooked pasta ( each portion is cooked fresh in front of you), fresh steaks cooked however you would like, barbecues, lobster, and so much more. It was all so delicious and we didn’t find a single thing we were disappointed by, which is extremely rare at an all inclusive. Our stay was incredible and we would absolutely come back, it was worth every penny and we would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a luxurious perfect quality all inclusive!

Beautiful resort, excellent service, amazing experience! The experience at Coral Level was amazing, the regular part of the resort often feels too crowded, especially the buffet. The service level differs too, all the staff at the Coral Level was great, very friendly, greet you with a smile everytime and even remember your drink order!! Definitely recommend visiting. Make sure to select the Coral Level!
