Our office group stayed at this property over the weekend, and unfortunately, we experienced a severe security breach. Cash and jewelry were stolen from two of our rooms. Most alarmingly, the intruders entered through the balconies at night while the guests were asleep inside. We have since learned that similar incidents have occurred in the past, yet management has clearly failed to implement any effective security precautions.

🚩 Serious Security Breach We stayed at The Villas Wadduwa for an office team trip. During the night, while guests were asleep in their rooms, cash and valuable jewelry were stolen from two rooms belonging to members of our group. This was a shocking and deeply concerning incident that completely overshadowed our stay. What makes this even more concerning is that similar incidents had occurred previously, yet there appeared to be inadequate security measures and CCTV coverage It is truly disappointing and difficult to believe that such an incident could occur at a hotel of this nature, where guests expect to feel safe and secure while staying in their rooms. ❌ Based on our experience, I would not recommend this property to anyone

🚫🚫🚫🚫 We recently visited as a group and several of our rooms were broken into and money and jewellery were stolen from the rooms. Upon being investigated by the police, we learnt that this has happened before in the recent past and police were familiar with the rooms/area of the hotel that is being frequently targeted. Despite the police instructions to increase security measures in the hotel, none have been taken. 🚫 Such establishments that do not take safety of their guests seriously, should not be allowed to remain open. 🚫 I urge you to reconsider allowing anyone you know to visit this place, as they could be the next victim of this hotel's negligence. PLS AVOID!!!! 🚫🚫🚫🚫

Our stay at The Villas Wadduwa by Amaya was extremely disappointing and nowhere near what we expected from a 4-star hotel. The welcome we received was warm and pleasant, but unfortunately that was the only positive part of our experience. The buffet was awful, with very limited variety and only a few food choices. The dessert section was especially disappointing, offering only some cut fruits, ice cream, and a single cake. The dining service was equally poor. Staff were careless and inattentive—they didn’t even offer drinking water during our meal unless we asked. To make matters worse, one staff member accidentally poured water all over our table without handling the situation professionally. The swimming pool was another major concern. Crows were bathing in the pool while staff simply watched without taking any action to maintain hygiene. The room was in poor condition. balcony door lock was already broken, and the bathroom was old, dirty, and clearly not maintained properly. The cleanliness of the hotel was unacceptable. There were cockroaches and geckos throughout the property, and we even found gecko droppings on the pillows, which is completely unacceptable for any hotel, let alone a 4-star property. Overall, this was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve had. The hotel falls far below the standards expected of a 4-star establishment. Management should seriously improve the cleanliness, room maintenance, food quality, and staff service. We would not recommend staying here based on our experience.

From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. From the reception team to every member of the staff, everyone went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. A special mention goes to Chandima ,Anton, Vishani, Udaya whose warmth, kindness, and genuine hospitality made us feel completely at home. The rooms were beautifully maintained, luxurious, and offered excellent value for money. The food was delicious, and although the hotel did not have enough guests to normally offer a buffet, they still prepared one for us, reflecting their outstanding commitment to guest satisfaction and service excellence. The stunning views, well-kept gardens, inviting pool, and beautiful beach all added to an unforgettable experience. Every aspect of the property was exceptionally well maintained. I would rate this hotel 10 out of 10 in every category, with special appreciation for the professionalism, dedication, and heartfelt service provided by the entire staff. I highly recommend Villas by Amaya to anyone looking for a truly relaxing and memorable stay.

Initially we thought this was a very nice hotel. The property has a lot of potential and at first glance it feels like a quality resort. Unfortunately, after staying a few days, the service and breakfast experience turned out to be very disappointing. Breakfast in particular was poor. Much of the food was not properly cooked and the service felt rushed and uncomfortable. Plates were sometimes removed while we were still eating, which made the experience feel hurried rather than relaxed. Overall it was not a pleasant way to start the day. We also had several housekeeping issues. On multiple occasions the room was not turned down, the bed was not made, and towels were not replaced. The housekeeping staff were friendly when we approached them, but we repeatedly had to ask for basic things that should normally be done automatically in a hotel of this standard. At the pool area there were also operational problems. The towel station and pool bar only seemed to open around 11am, even though guests can swim from around 8 or 9am. This meant you had to search for staff or ask around to get towels. At one point there was also staff laundry hanging right next to the bar area, which is not something guests expect to see in a resort environment. More generally, the service felt unstructured. Staff were often chatting to each other while bottles and glasses were left standing around. The overall impression is that the team is not yet properly trained to operate efficiently or maintain a consistent standard. To make matters worse, the checkout experience was extremely frustrating. It was very difficult to get the bill settled and the amount presented was not correct. Resolving this took far longer than it should have and was handled in a very unprofessional way. It left me really annoyed and did not end the stay on a pleasant way. The property itself has a lot of potential. This review is not written to be negative, but to highlight the service and operational issues we experienced. With stronger management and better staff training, the hotel could be much better than it currently is.
