There are only two positive things I can say about my overpriced stay here: Location: It’s in the middle of everything - but it is also the downside. Parking is a pain. It can be noisy. Staff warning: The staff member who brought up our luggage warned us about the booby trap under the snacks and bottles. You can’t even touch them without tripping a sensor that charges you for the junk food you're just trying to move out of the way. Besides that, there is nothing special about this hotel. The rooms feel a bit small, and the beds aren't that comfortable. There's no mini-fridge (they charge $25 a night just to bring one to your room, and it takes forever to cool down). Overall: 'meh' 😒 Better alternative is to stay a bit away from the city center, and park your car at one of the garages throughout the day. You would get bigger rooms, probably better beds, no traps to charge you for random things you didn't even use, and less noise

As Washingtonians who hadn’t visited “our neighbors to the north” since before COVID, we decided it was finally time for a trip to Vancouver. From the moment we made our reservation until the day we checked out, Hotel Vancouver exceeded our expectations. Their attention to detail was truly impressive. Prior to our arrival, we received an email inviting us to share our preferences and any special requests, such as parking needs or early check-in accommodations. It was a thoughtful touch that immediately set the tone for a personalized experience. We chose to book the Fairmont Gold accommodations, and I highly recommend doing so. The dedicated concierge team and private lounge elevated our stay significantly. The lounge included a complimentary breakfast, late afternoon hors d’oeuvres, evening treats, and an honor bar, all of which added to the experience. Upon check-in, we were greeted by Brennon, an exceptionally courteous and detail-oriented gentleman who made sure every aspect of our stay was perfect. When we mentioned that my wife had a massage scheduled at the hotel spa that afternoon, he even arranged a complimentary enhancement for her treatment. Brennon and the entire Gold-level staff were consummate professionals and went above and beyond to make our visit memorable. We look forward to returning soon and will absolutely stay again at “The Castle in the City.”

What an amazing stay! The hotel was gorgeous with several dining options at the hotel and nearby. The staff was friendly and really stepped up when they messed up our room type which really was appreciated since we checked in super late and tired. The room and beds were cozy, though the bathroom was very small for a family of mostly girls! The location is near the train station and an uber ride to the port or airport. There is also a lot to do in the area just a few steps away which made it in the perfect spot for our large family!

We stayed in early July and had high expectations as we've stayed at other Fairmont hotels and stay at the Ritz and St. Regis normally. Our rate was approx. $600 per night CAD. Location was the location, not the most convenient but not bad and employees were helpful for the most part. The room was showing signs of wear and the TV was terrible. For a high end hotel to not have streaming options was very disappointing. The TV appeared to be over 10 years old and their streaming solution was to "cast from your phone" a feature that Netflix discontinued over a year ago. Movies were pay per view at $30 CAD. The remote lagged to the point of frustration. Push a button and wait 3 seconds to see if it registered. Reading lights on the headboard didn't function, the bathroom shelf was pulling off the wall and generally the room was in average shape. While the condition was ok it was not at the level expected for a high end hotel. If I was staying at a Courtyard I would have been happy but I also would have paid 50% as much. We were hoping for old hotel charm like you get at the Palmer House in Chicago or Plaza in NYC. This just missed the mark.

The service in Notch8 bar was incredible. Our server Brant was incredibly knowledgeable about the drinks on menu and was a pleasure to have on service. He made our stay at Fairmount Vancouver a memorable one and we would definitely return knowing the staff go above and beyond to make our stay as wonderful as it was.

Check-in was smooth and efficient. Our room was perfect. The beds were so comfortable, I did not want to leave. Very clean! A few small maintenance issues were handled quickly and efficiently. The highlight - our Saturday afternoon tour of the Hotel with David. What a joy to have someone so passionate about this glorious hotel show us around and give us the incredible history of this hotel. I can't wait to return.
