Wow, wow, wow—what an absolutely incredible experience! We stayed for four nights but honestly wished we had at least four more. If you’re planning a trip, do yourself a favor and book a water bungalow—it’s a next-level experience. You won’t want (or need) to leave your villa! The service was exceptional, with every staff member going above and beyond to make our stay special. A huge thank you to Emdad, our wonderful waiter, and Maria, the amazing manager—both made us feel so welcome. We booked the half-board option, which included breakfast and dinner, and it was more than enough, with delicious buffet-style meals offering a wide variety of choices. One of the highlights of our trip was the house reef, which is absolutely teeming with life. We swam alongside reef sharks, turtles, eagle rays, and countless vibrant fish—it felt like snorkeling through a massive, living aquarium. The corals were surprisingly healthy, and the crystal-clear water made every moment underwater magical. I didn’t even feel the need to go diving because snorkeling alone was so fulfilling. Plus, they provide complimentary snorkeling gear, which was a fantastic bonus! Our water villa was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, and designed for pure relaxation. The resort offers twice-daily housekeeping, fresh towels each time, and thoughtful touches that make you feel completely at ease. Even the journey to the resort was an adventure—taking the seaplane was such a cool experience and added to the excitement of arriving in paradise. Overall, this was one of the most relaxing, luxurious, and unforgettable stays we’ve ever had. We only wish we could have stayed longer! If you’re considering this place—just book it. You won’t regret it!

Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt auf Drift Thelu Veliga Retreat grundsätzlich sehr genossen. Die Insel ist wunderschön bewachsen, angenehm ruhig und nicht überlaufen. Besonders die Wasserbungalows sind traumhaft und bieten viel Privatsphäre. Auch die Atmosphäre im Restaurant ist sehr angenehm – entspannt, freundlich und passend zum Inselgefühl. Zum Abschalten und Erholen ist die Insel definitiv geeignet, vor allem für ein bis zwei Wochen. Preislich liegt das Resort eher im oberen Bereich im Vergleich zu anderen Inseln, die wir auf den Malediven besucht haben. Der Service war dort durchaus vergleichbar, die Inseln jedoch grösser und das Gesamtangebot teilweise umfangreicher. Der klare Pluspunkt von Drift Thelu Veliga ist hingegen die kleine, sehr persönliche Inselgrösse – genau das macht den besonderen Charme und die Ruhe aus. Wichtig zu erwähnen ist, dass das Tauchcenter und das Hotel ein separates Management haben. Leider müssen wir beim Tauchcenter dennoch eine klare Warnung aussprechen. Es gibt generell nicht viele Taucher auf der Insel, was an sich nicht schlimm ist – jedoch war die Organisation und Professionalität sehr enttäuschend. Die Wartung der Ausrüstung machte keinen guten Eindruck. Besonders schwerwiegend: Wir hatten eine Kohlenmonoxidvergiftung durch schlechte Atemluft. Darauf wurde vor Ort nicht angemessen reagiert. Der verantwortliche Tauchguide war anschließend nicht mehr auffindbar, und eine wirkliche Aufarbeitung des Vorfalls fand nicht statt. Das Hotelmanagement wirkte bemüht und versuchte zumindest, eine Lösung zur Entspannung für uns zu finden, war aber insgesamt eher ratlos im Umgang mit der Situation. Zudem gibt es kein Nitrox – was für die Malediven sehr ungewöhnlich ist. Wir kennen viele verschiedene Tauchcenter auf den Malediven, aber eine solche Erfahrung haben wir bisher noch nie gemacht. Fazit: Eine sehr schöne, kleine Insel mit viel Ruhe und Charme – ideal zum Entspannen. Für ambitionierte oder sicherheitsbewusste Taucher jedoch leider nicht zu empfehlen.

Viaggio di nozze, Abbiamo apprezzato lo staff molto cortese e disponibile, cibo pochissimo italiano per lo più orientale e internazionale. 1 settimana in beach villa ed 1 in water. In beach i bungalow sono datati ma questo non era importante, la cosa che più di tutto ci ha infastidito era chechiunque, turisti o membri dello staff, potevano passeggiare utilizzando il sentiero nostro che portava alla spiaggia. In questo modo, essendo che questo sentiero dalla spiaggia entrava fino alla nostra vetrata di ingresso per poi costeggiare tutta la casetta ed uscire sul retro collegandosi al sentiero "pubblico" ha fatto sì che per 7 giorni siamo purttoppo rimasti con le tende oscuranti chiuse, avendo una autostrada pedonale. Chiedevo cortesemente di posizionare una semplice cortina all'ingresso del sentiero a far capire che era di nostro esclusivo utilizzo ma ci è stato negato, abbiamo capito in quella occasione che l'attenzione per il cliente non era delle migliori. In water villa il problema privacy fortunatamente non c'era. C'era però problema ombrellone, ovvero sull'isola gli unici ombrelloni sono per le beachvilla, se hai la water e vuoi stare in spiaggia devi svegliarti all'alba e occupare uno degli unici tre gazebo presenti. Calcolate che le watervilla sono 20. Ultima nota positiva, per chi fa diving, nonostante recensioni datate che lo davano inesistente io ho comunque portato la mia attrezzatura ma nel centro ne avevano parecchia e buona a noleggio. Premetto che ho fatto immersioni tutti i giorni utilizzando le barche del resort, i posti che abbiamo visto sono tutti meravigliosi e sono solo a max 40 min di barca lenta "dony". Attenzione non hanno nitrox solo aria. DOTH E EKU sono sono dive master preparatissimi ed amichevoli. Ho fatto più di 15 immersioni, nuotato con mante e squalo balena. Grazie ragazzi

Abbiamo trascorso a metà marzo un soggiorno meraviglioso al Drift Thelu Veliga Retreat alle Maldive e possiamo dire che è stata un’esperienza davvero indimenticabile e paradisiaca. Se hai bisogno di staccare e rilassarti questo è il posto giusto. Abbiamo alloggiato in una over water villa e svegliarsi ogni giorno con il mare davanti è stato qualcosa di spettacolare. Tramite una scaletta è possibile andare direttamente in acqua. La barriera corallina è bellissima: facendo snorkeling abbiamo visto tantissimi pesci, tartarughe, squali pinna nera e anche squali nutrice. Un vero paradiso per chi ama il mare. Il cibo è sempre stato molto buono, con circa 5-6 opzioni diverse ad ogni pasto, quindi c’era sempre qualcosa di nuovo da provare. Il clima è stato perfetto: sempre caldo e piacevole, al punto che io, che sono molto freddolosa, non ho mai avuto bisogno nemmeno di un giacchetto. Un’altra cosa bellissima della vita sull’isola è che ti dimentichi completamente delle scarpe: si sta sempre scalzi o in infradito, il che contribuisce tantissimo alla sensazione di relax totale. Un ringraziamento speciale a Daniele, il referente italiano del resort, sempre disponibile e gentile nel dare informazioni e organizzare eventuali escursioni. Prima di partire avevo paura di annoiarmi, invece è stato l’esatto contrario: tra snorkeling nella barriera dell’isola e momenti di puro relax sul terrazzino della nostra villa sull’acqua, le giornate sono volate. In generale ci è piaciuto tutto: natura incredibile, mare stupendo, atmosfera rilassata e personale molto accogliente. Un posto che consigliamo sicuramente e dove torneremmo volentieri. La vacanza più bella di sempre.

Had a one night stay at the water villa. Excellent rooms and wonderful staff. Water villa provides a wonderful experience in Maldives. They offer a variety of in room amenities and complementary food items. The view from the villa is breathtakingly stunning with the blue clear water and a few baby sharks swimming at night. The resort actually offers complementary snorkeling near the villa. The Island can be seen by walking and the restaurant offers a wide varieties of food including Continental and Indian cuisine. The resort used treated water for restaurant purposes and for the rooms so you won’t be having salty water in your bathrooms. The staff is very polite and courteous. The only issue I had is the staff not permitting to fly drone and lack of toiletries like brushes or toothpaste.

In riferimento alle persone che scrivono che si annoiano mi piacerebbe rispondere semplicemente che ci venite a fare, le dimensioni dell'isola il numero di camere e niente intrattenimento è ben scritto sui vari siti, qui ci si viene per godere in pieno della pace e della vita sottomarina. Isola stupenda, personale top , barriera stupenda ricca di pesci e soprattutto di colori, l'unico appunto che mi sento di fare è che c'è poca scelta di verdure e frutta, con un menù tendenzialmente italiano, per il resto tutto perfetto
