I have mixed opinions. Having read a lot of reviews before coming to stay I expected the worst. So actually in some cases I was pleasantly surprised. All of the interactions with the staff were great. They were very friendly and helpful to us. We stayed in room 306. It was huge in size. Yes. Perhaps the decor is a little dated, and the common areas overlooking the balcony need a clean and maybe some fresh paint, along with the other common areas. The hotel was made in 2013 so I guess nothing much was done to it since then. The best hotels ofc have regular maintenance and refreshes. The menus must be the original ones too! The beach was not that interesting for me to swim in. It's close the the river mouth and the sea looks a little dirty although it may only be the sand being mixed up from the waves. The chairs at the beach though are very comfortable to relax in. The food for me was ok. I ate the Sri Lankan food at breakfast and a couple of times at dinner. Of course if you go to a local restaurant outside it will be much cheaper. It's your choice. Or maybe the choice made by the weather like it was for us. My biggest issue, which maybe somewhat unfair to the hotel but I am sure they have an influence is that the local tuk tuk drivers to intimidate/bully guests and other drivers if they come into "their area". We are using the pickme app to avoid the silly prices these people try to charge but drivers called us to say they would not fetch us from the hotel, either because they were not allowed in by the hotel staff or the local drivers argued and faught with them. So we ended up having to walk up the street and we faced similar nonsense from these local drivers. You may think we are wrong to not support them, but a good example of the crazy charges. On the last morning, we wanted to have a car take us around to galle train station. The local car driver asked for 5000 lkr. Pickme charged around 700! Same for the first day, local tuk tuk driver orignally quoted 1000 lkr, pickme was 300. The hotel acknowledged the drivers were aggressive. But they would be much better if they dealt with them or provided better transport options themselves. I stayed at a local b&b in unawatuna Back in 2015 and the tuktuk was provided as a free service to the local area.

Had an amazing stay! ✨ The room was super clean, comfortable, and looked even better in person. The service was excellent, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious, and the location was beautiful and relaxing. Everything was perfect. Can’t wait to visit again! 🤍

Good rooms + good location + good food. It was a wonderful stay, however just the people at the reception can have more smiley face. They seem to be slight rude. Though staff members were very good.

Excellent location right on the beach.And yes we got free upgrade to the suit room as it was off season. Hospitality is top notch starting from the reception , waiters and house keeping service.Breakfast was yummy.Srilankan breakfast was quite unique and super tasty .The view from the room was really beautiful ❤️. Overall it was a very comfortable luxurious memorable stay amidst the nature .We can take a dip in sea in the evening hours.Well managed property and very much accessible from the Galle railway station/bus stand .

We stayed one night in the Grand Riviera Room on a half-board package. The property itself is beautiful, very well maintained, and located in a peaceful setting with a lovely private beach. The Grand Riviera room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, making it a great choice for a relaxing stay. The swimming pool was also excellent. A special mention to the staff—they were all incredibly warm, friendly, and attentive throughout our stay. Their hospitality was one of the highlights of the experience. The only disappointment was the dining experience. We paid around LKR 63,000 for the night on a half-board basis, but dinner was served as a set menu with very limited options, especially for vegetarians. We had expected a buffet or at least a wider selection for the price. the lack of variety meant the package didn't feel like the best value for money. Overall, it's a wonderful boutique hotel with excellent service and a relaxing atmosphere. If the hotel could improve the variety of its half-board meals, particularly for vegetarian guests, it would make the experience even better.

I came here to celebrate a friend's birthday. But my dog wasn't allowed here. I pointed to two dirty dogs biting their own fleas. The manager said that these are their dogs, and other people's dogs are not allowed. It's illogical. Dogs are either allowed or not. So you can start choosing guests. The coffee is so-so here.
