We have just returned from a 10-night all-inclusive stay at Pirates Village as a family of five and unfortunately our experience was very mixed. The biggest positives are the entertainment team and the location. The entertainment was fantastic and the Pirate Team work incredibly hard. A special mention to Shaman, who was brilliant with both children and adults. The hotel is also in a perfect location, with the beach, shops, bars and restaurants all within a few minutes' walk. Unfortunately, there were many issues that significantly impacted our holiday. We paid almost £400 extra for a ground-floor terrace family room, yet the room was not suitable for a family of five. There was one bedroom with two single beds, while the remaining family members had to sleep on a sofa bed, pull-out mattress and fold-out cabin bed in the living area. The beds were extremely uncomfortable, with metal bars easily felt through some of the mattresses. The room itself is in desperate need of updating. The air conditioning did not work properly and the room safe was also faulty. Housekeeping was inconsistent throughout our stay. Some days the room was cleaned, other days it was not. Fresh towels were frequently unavailable and we had to visit reception several times to request them. On our final day, after checking out but still being entitled to use the facilities until our evening transfer, we requested pool towels and were told none were available and that we should go across the road and buy our own. We also experienced an ant problem on the kitchen worktops throughout our stay, which meant constantly cleaning surfaces and made the room feel unhygienic. The hotel advertises itself as all-inclusive, but in reality it felt far from it. There were no self-service drink stations, meaning long queues at the bar throughout the day and evening simply to get soft drinks. Guests were also limited to two drinks per person at a time. Ice creams, ice lollies and sweets for children were all charged as extras, which resulted in us spending far more money than expected despite paying for an all-inclusive package. To watch the evening entertainment comfortably, guests are encouraged to pay €40 for a reserved table. We paid this fee but received very little service. Dirty plates remained on the table for long periods, nobody checked if we wanted drinks, and the included bottle of wine was of no use to us as a family. Ironically, the free seating appeared to receive better service. We also found some staff members unhelpful and at times unprofessional. One member of staff, Carlos, was openly discussing our situation regarding seating arrangements with another family he appeared to know personally, which made us feel very uncomfortable and embarrassed. The arcade was another disappointment, with several machines not working. Both pool tables were also out of order and the cues available were missing their tips, making them unusable. The food was generally nice but very repetitive and became boring after several days. The snack bar food was particularly poor. I genuinely believe management need to review the direction this hotel is taking. We visited Pirates Village years ago and had an amazing experience. Sadly, it now feels focused on charging guests extra at every opportunity rather than delivering the all-inclusive family experience it is known for. The entertainment team and location stop this being a one-star review, but unfortunately we would not return in its current state.

This was the holiday that confused the life out of us. All Inclusive. It was not ALL inclusive. You don't get any ice-creams or treats during the day, only burger (not great), a hot dog which wasn't great, onion rings or a cheese and ham toastie. The chips were nice, but the other food was not. The food during the stay was OK. Very repetitive. But, again, great for kids. Fruit was good, salads were good but the mains were terrible. Everything tasted the same. They had a Beef Steak (no more a steak than my toe) on one night and it was the cheapest cut of meat I have ever seen. The entertainment was a solid 8 out of 10 at night. During the day it was pretty good. A pirate came and made the place interesting. Sun loungers are a joke, as the umbrellas are at a premium. You have to be down early to reserve an UMBRELLA, not a sunbed. Staff were lovely. Kind and helpful. But the food was such a disappointment. We are not fussy eaters. But when the meat of choice is Pork every night bar one, you know you're in for a tough week. Again, the kids had good fun, but even they said they wouldn't go back because there was only "Iceland food" to eat every night.

Stayed May half term-26. Check in fine, rooms basic but clean and all you need. Food as expected for this type of venue. Great location with the beach and strip within 5-15mins walk. Entertainment good but scary for younger children. Mermaid experience was good for our 3 year old. Major down side... no water in the room at all between 5.15 and 6.15 on 3 different ocassions so have scored service down as that was frustrating after a long day. Was back on my 7pm all nights! Swimming pools only open 10am to 6pm (very strict and often late openinf)

What can I say we have just returned from a weeks holiday in the pirates village. It was fabulous the resort was beautiful the rooms were great i have read a lot of reviews saying the room are terrible im sorry but this is far from the truth. The pools are wonderful for the kids and the 5 lifeguards are amazing they watch everyone to ensure there safety. The location is brilliant a quick walk to the beach and plenty of shops nearby. I will say again I read a lot of reviews saying the food is not good, that is absolute nonsense the chefs work all day to prepare great food all day with great selection that includes the snack bar food. What a wonderful holiday. But the on thing that made this holiday special was the hotel team they were unbelievable from the reception when we checked in so polite. To the chefs wonderful cooks. The bar staff and waiters all day beautiful people so helpful. The lifeguards brilliant at there jobs makes you feel at ease in the pool with young kids. The cleaners the hotel was spotless and rooms were cleaned daily well done. The security team at the door always receive a hello and they would stop kids going out without adults to me that is above and beyond thank you. The artists well they were amazing, wonderful with kids and extremely talented the shows were out of this world. The kids club team were so friendly and made the kids have so much fun from the talent show which was amazing to water polo thank you.thank you pirates village for making our holiday amazing and we can't wait to come back as we've booked for next year. See you then Grant Kiernan.

Wonderful stay, clean rooms (also regularly cleaned) nice food, plenty of drinks available! Location is good with shops for bits around and a nice little beach with taxi transport which I thought was very reasonable to attractions like Marineland and western waterpark. Special shoutout to Emily on reception and Alex in the restaurant who my daughter took a liking to and they really made the effort with her!

Our family were self-catering, so we didn't try any of the food so I cannot comment on it. I will say that at the time of writing it cost 60€ per adult and 30€ per day to upgrade to all-inclusive. It might vary per family, but I know we couldn't spend that much on food and drinks in a restaurant through the entire day, so I personally couldn't justify the cost. I will start with our favorite parts which were the evening shows and kids club. The evening shows were fun and interacted with the crowd which is always fun. The pirate invasion blew us away. You really have to experience it, it's a few hours of non-stop fun for everyone. Kids club was a great addition, they loved spending time there, finding new friends and taking part in fun activities giving the parents a few hours to do some shopping, exploring or just to relax knowing the little ones are in safe hands. The pools were good, main pools all had different depths catering to swimmers of all ages and abilities. Don't miss a chance to jump off the tower into the deep pool, it's a lot of fun! The only thing I didn't really like was the slides, there were 3, which is ok, but adults were strictly prohibited from going on them. They were big and sturdy enough to support adults, but they all land into a common pool area, so I guess the concern was hitting children in the pool on the way down. It's understandable, but this meant if your child is nervous about going down a slide, you can't go together to ease them in, or you can't just have some silly fun on the slides together with your kids. All you can do is stand and watch which is especially annoying since it's very difficult to find a place to sit down as almost always all the loungers are taken. It's a poorly designed pool in my opinion. There was a nice little laundry room, €5 for washing and €5 for drying, washing powder included, but you can easily dry everything on the racks provided on the balcony. The worst thing was the rooms, they were well worn, walls dirty, scraped and marked, furniture scratched and broken, cobwebs in wardrobe, multiple lights weren't working, one lightswitch was broken - the switch would fall off exposing live wires inside(!!!), throw pillows on sofa beds were stained, TV covered in sand and IR sensor not working, handrails in the balcony seemed flimsy. I understand this is a pirate themed hotel so you can get away with a little bit of a "rustic" aesthetic, but I thought it was too much. I felt the overall experience was good, but the rooms did not impress me which is the only thing bringing down the rating because tbe activities, service and location were all excellent.
