Pestana Vila Sol - Vilamoura Premium Golf Resort

We recently stayed at Pestana Vila Sol and overall had a pleasant holiday, but unfortunately the experience was let down by the attitude of many of the staff. Starting with the positives, the rooms were lovely, spacious, and kept exceptionally clean throughout our stay. A huge credit goes to the housekeeping team, who did a fantastic job every day. The breakfast selection was also very good, with plenty of choice. A special mention must go to the omelette chef, who was absolutely incredible – always friendly, welcoming, and genuinely lovely to speak to each morning. We also played golf at the resort during our stay. The golf course itself was beautiful, very well maintained, and a pleasure to play. The grounds staff clearly take great pride in their work. Unfortunately, the hospitality side of the golf complex did not match the quality of the course. The lady serving lunch in the golf clubhouse café was one of the rudest members of staff we encountered during our entire trip, which was disappointing given the otherwise excellent golfing experience. Unfortunately, beyond a few standout individuals, we found the majority of the staff across the resort to be quite miserable and unwelcoming. It genuinely felt as though helping guests was a chore rather than something they wanted to do. This was disappointing and not what we would expect from a hotel of this standard. The poolside bar service was also incredibly strange and inefficient. To order a drink, you had to go to one end of the bar to pay, after which the staff would pass slips and messages between themselves before someone eventually made the drinks at the other end. The whole process felt unnecessarily complicated and often resulted in long waits for what should have been a simple drink order. It was confusing to watch and frustrating as a guest. Drinks were also served with very little ice. One particularly disappointing incident occurred at the indoor bar when a member of staff splashed beer all over me. Rather than apologising, they simply looked at me and carried on, which I found quite rude and unprofessional. Our arrival experience wasn’t great either. The reception staff were not welcoming and seemed to bark instructions at us rather than greeting us warmly. There was no explanation of the facilities, where things were located, or any useful information that would have helped us settle in. We were also disappointed to find that the indoor pool was closed, along with the sauna and steam room. These facilities were part of the reason we chose the hotel. The gym was very basic, and around the pool area there were numerous loose tiles and sections of grating that appeared to be lifting, creating potential trip hazards. Overall, this wasn’t a bad stay. The rooms, cleanliness, breakfast, and golf course were all very good, and both the housekeeping team and omelette chef deserve recognition for their efforts. However, the hospitality and customer service across much of the resort were consistently poor and fell far below expectations. Sadly, while the facilities themselves have a lot of potential, the attitude of many staff members means we would not be rushing back. The resort has the foundations of a fantastic destination, but the service culture needs significant improvement.

This is a 2-3 * accommodation and absolutely does not meet the standards of a 5* hotel. The garden rooms have potential, but are closer to glamping than luxury. You are certainly surrounded by nature - bugs everywhere, mould throughout the room, and very large cockroaches to wake you up in the mornings! Although probably more shocking than the cockroaches was the service. Staff have no interest in guests or customer service, there is no greeting or interaction - it was actually a bit surreal how negative and depressing this place is. Random things happened throughout our stay such as our room mistakenly being set up for the next guests, with additional beds etc. - while our belongings were still inside. My husband also asked how long to wait for the golf cart and the man immediately snapped back - I’m entitled to take breaks?!? When we volunteered that it’s the worst hotel experience we’ve had - the response was a shrug. Save your time and money by avoiding!

Really pretty grounds but literally come around to you sat minding your own business if you have dared to bring a drink from outside and sit by the pool. So weird! - anyone would think they want to sell you a drink for 7 euro!!

Decepcionante es la palabra para este hotel de, supuestamente, 5 estrellas. Pedí 3 habitaciones iguales y una de ellas era diferente, llegamos a la 13:00h y hasta las 16:00h no nos dieron 2 de las habitaciones. El agua de las piscinas sólo es viable para el baño en pleno verano o si te está dando una insolación porque no puede estar más fría. La sauna de calor seco no funcionaba. Las habitaciones son horribles en cuanto al ruido, te enteras de absolutamente todo de lo que está haciendo el de la habitación de al lado, de hecho incluso escuchamos como alguien vomitaba. Había una invasión de hormigas en las terrazas y el cesped nada cuidado. Es lamentable que viniendo de España, el país de al lado, el personal de recepción nos entienda tan mal. El personal de limpieza entró en nuestra habitación estando nosotros dentro. Y el culmen de la experiencia fue recibir un pelotazo desde el campo de golf mientras tomábamos algo en el bar exterior. Un impacto así puede causarte un problema y el hotel debe proteger esa zona porque de seguir así algún día ocurrirá una desgracia. Turismo de borrachera es lo que vivimos ya que todo lo que había eran ingleses borrachos dando el espectáculo, pero como eso deja dinero pues todo está permitido supongo. Lo único bueno es el parking gratuito y el chico que nos llevó con las maletas a las habitaciones, que era un encanto. Deberían darle una vuelta a este hotel, desde luego nosotros no pensamos volver ni recomendarlo.

Extremely Disappointing Experience This was an extremely disappointing and unprofessional experience. The room was arranged directly by your customer service staff, and we paid for the accommodation. This was NOT a booking made through a third-party website. On the day of our stay, the room was booked directly by your staff using your own hotel computer/system. We checked in according to the arrangement made by your staff and paid the amount requested. However, when we checked out, we were suddenly asked to pay an additional €129. This is completely unacceptable. If there was a problem with the room rate, payment, or booking, your staff should have informed us clearly before or at check-in, not wait until check-out to demand additional payment. We trusted your staff to make the booking correctly, yet we ended up having to deal with an unexpected charge and a very unpleasant situation at the end of our stay. Very unprofessional service, very poor communication, and an extremely disappointing travel experience. I would not recommend this hotel. The hotel staff were also extremely argumentative and unreasonable. I originally booked one room for two people and another room for two people with a baby, and I paid for both rooms first. Only after those bookings had been confirmed did I add another room for two people. Instead of informing us in a timely manner that there was an issue, the hotel waited until that evening and then suddenly changed our room arrangements, apparently in order to charge us more money. They completely disregarded the guests’ needs and preferences. It felt like they were deliberately taking advantage of us and effectively forcing us to pay extra. For such a major tourist destination, it is absolutely unacceptable that during the daytime there was not even a hotel manager at the front desk who could communicate properly in Spanish or even basic English to handle an unexpected situation professionally. The hotel’s attitude and handling of the situation were extremely disappointing and frustrating. This is by far one of the most unpleasant hotel experiences I have ever had, and I find the hotel’s behavior absolutely unacceptable.

Check in is a joke… rooms not ready, staff don’t care. No basic information about hotel. Just told to sit it out. Door was broken and had mice in the room. Cleaners left room door wide open for hours with all our valuables on display Electrics are dangerous Have complained about all of these and no one cares, staff are not interested
