I never imagined I would leave a vacation writing a review like this. My partner and I chose Margaritaville Riviera Maya Adults Only because we were looking for a relaxing, all-inclusive escape where we could celebrate, unwind, and simply exist without feeling judged. Instead, we left feeling hurt, exhausted, and deeply disappointed. From the moment we arrived, this resort failed to deliver the experience it advertises. One of the biggest disappointments was learning there was no swimmable beach, something that was not made clear when booking. If you’re expecting the classic Riviera Maya beach vacation, you won’t find it here. The food was another major letdown. What’s the point of paying for an all-inclusive resort if there’s rarely anything available to eat? Restaurants frequently had limited menus, unavailable items, or long waits. More than once, my partner and I went to bed hungry because there simply wasn’t anything available. That should never happen at an all-inclusive resort. What hurt even more than the food was how we were treated. I was repeatedly misgendered by staff, even after correcting them. Being respected for who you are isn’t a special request … it’s the bare minimum. By the end of our stay, we couldn’t help but feel that we were being treated differently. As a couple, that feeling was heartbreaking. We genuinely tried to give this resort every opportunity to improve our experience. We stayed patient, extended grace, and hoped each day would be better. Instead, we were met with inconsistent service, dismissive attitudes, and an experience that fell further and further below what was promised. By our last day, the emotional toll of everything had caught up with us. My partner and I left in tears. No vacation should end that way. The only people who made us feel seen and genuinely cared for were Ross and Carolina. They treated us with kindness, professionalism, and the level of hospitality we wish we had experienced throughout our stay. They deserve recognition because they were the exception, not the rule. This resort has beautiful grounds, but beautiful buildings don’t make up for poor hospitality, disappointing food, and making guests feel unwelcome. We came expecting a memorable vacation. We left with memories we’d rather forget.

Leer si eres mexicano. Si eres Mexicano, quieres relajarte y estar tranquilo, este es tu lugar para las vacaciones. Sin embargo... Ten en cuenta MUCHAS COSAS... Desde que haces el check-in en la recepción se encuentra "Velky o Belky" una joven de lentes que te habla super pesado y sientes que estás ahí por obligación más que por gusto, y te quiere vender un buen de cosas, pensé que por estar en México te cobrarían en pesos pero TODO lo manejan en dólares; se entiende el trato hacia los extranjeros. Pero somos mexicanos !! Y al menos yo siento que no se vale ese trato con tus compatriotas. Si te gusta ese trato, no tendrás problemas, pero mi pareja y yo que queríamos descansar al llegar, sentimos que fue una gran perdida de tiempo, así que... Ten cuidado. Es barra libre, y sí, hay bebidas muy ricas que te encantaran !! Pero como mexicano los bartender te tratan mal (ojo, no todos.). En su mayoría solo sirve a los extranjeros, supongo porque ellos les dan a cada rato dólares de propina, y hasta que tú les das cincuenta o cien pesos te empiezan a atender bien. Cosa que a mí parecer es discriminatoria para un hotel que se dice "libre de discriminación". En mi experiencia, el peor de todos fue un bartender que escuche que se llama Elbert o Albert, que casi siempre atendía por la tarde "5 O'CLOCK SOMEWHERE BAR", así que... Si eres extranjero, ven, no tendrás problemas, te la pasaras genial. Si eres mexicano... Ten cuidado. Ahora... El cuarto donde nos tocó todo estaba increíble... Hasta que nos dimos cuenta que en la cafetera y en el refrigerador habia hormigas!!! Literal, parecía un hormiguero. Y al contactar a la recepción con Velky, solo recibimos "carotas" y una respuesta cortante de -Enseguida llamamos a limpieza-. Al menos, cuando regresamos por la tarde, esa pequeña plaga ya no estaba. Cómo recomendación, lleva repelente... Quizá sea algo obvio de llevar, pero a nosotros se nos olvidó. Y en el hotel lo vas a SUPER necesitar. Hay tanto hormigas, como moscos y varios insectos voladores. Si no quieres terminar picoteado... Que no se te olvide!!. Lo bueno y rescatable es la señorita Shirley que es bartender, atendiendo casi siempre en S.O.S. SWIM UP BAR, ella da un trato fenomenal que te sientes super a gusto y te hace recordar que hay buenos mexicanos. En redes sociales lo venden como lo mejor del mundo y un gran ambiente pero no. No te dejes engañar. Concluyendo, si quieres descansar este es tu lugar. Si quieres gastar a más no poder y sentirte discriminado en tu propio país... También, este es tu lugar. Diviértete!!!

Al llegar al establecimiento, se nos ofreció un regalo de bienvenida, así como cupones de descuento. Sin embargo, finalmente no recibí el obsequio ofrecido ni información clara respecto de los cupones, por lo que desconozco en qué consistían, cuáles eran sus beneficios o la forma en que podían hacerse efectivos. Posteriormente, al adquirir un Avocado Boat, no se nos proporcionó información suficiente respecto de la preparación o presentación de los alimentos. Únicamente se nos preguntó qué proteína deseábamos —pollo, pastor, pescado o camarón—, sin explicarnos de qué manera serían preparados. En particular, la preparación de los camarones no fue de nuestro agrado, al grado de que mis acompañantes prácticamente no consumieron dicha opción. Por otra parte, mi experiencia en el restaurante JWB fue poco satisfactoria. El servicio presentó una demora considerable, ya que transcurrieron aproximadamente tres horas antes de que se nos sirvieran todos los alimentos solicitados. Asimismo, al momento de ordenar los cortes de carne, se nos informó que varias de las opciones no se encontraban disponibles y que únicamente se podía ofrecer picaña. De igual manera, solicité un carajillo, pero se me indicó que no se contaba con los insumos necesarios para prepararlo. El postre que había seleccionado tampoco estaba disponible, por lo que tuve que sustituirlo por otra opción. En el bar S.O.S. también encontramos limitaciones en la disponibilidad de insumos. No se contaba con los elementos necesarios para preparar micheladas y, de igual manera, algunos de los cócteles solicitados no podían elaborarse debido a la falta de determinados ingredientes. Finalmente, en la cafetería solicité un moka, pero se me informó que no había chocolate disponible para su preparación. En términos generales, considero que nuestra experiencia se vio afectada de manera importante por la falta de disponibilidad de diversos alimentos, bebidas e insumos, así como por los tiempos excesivos de servicio y la falta de información clara respecto de algunas promociones y opciones ofrecidas. Entiendo que pueden presentarse situaciones de desabasto o circunstancias operativas; sin embargo, la frecuencia con la que encontramos productos, ingredientes y preparaciones no disponibles fue considerable y, en algunos casos, implicó tener que modificar nuestras elecciones o aceptar alternativas que no eran nuestra primera opción. Considero que estos aspectos deberían revisarse y atenderse, particularmente tratándose de un establecimiento que busca brindar a sus huéspedes una experiencia integral, cómoda y de calidad. Una mayor disponibilidad de insumos, una comunicación más clara sobre las opciones ofrecidas y una atención más eficiente contribuirían significativamente a mejorar la experiencia del huésped.

I really wish the front desk staff had been as friendly and welcoming as the rest of the employees throughout the resort. After reading so many positive reviews before booking, I expected a much better experience. Unfortunately, our stay started off on the wrong foot at check-in. I had booked a two-queen swim-up room months in advance, but upon arrival we were told we would be staying in a king room with a pull-out sofa instead. No one contacted us beforehand to let us know about this change or offered any explanation until we arrived. The front desk staff was consistently rude and unhelpful. Throughout our five-night stay, we had daily issues with our wristbands, requiring us to return to the front desk multiple times. It was frustrating and incredibly inconvenient. The room also fell short of expectations. Several days we had to request fresh towels because housekeeping left used ones behind, and our shower was missing shampoo and conditioner. To make matters worse, we were repeatedly hit with unexpected fees, even when the changes were the result of the resort's mistakes. The food was another major disappointment. We found the quality to be poor, especially compared to other all-inclusive resorts we've visited. The only bright spots of our stay were the bartender at the middle pool and the primary servers in the restaurants. They were genuinely friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service. They were the highlight of an otherwise disappointing vacation. Sadly, this was not the experience we expected, and because of it, we will not be staying at another Margaritaville resort. If you're visiting Cancun, I highly recommend the Hilton resort instead. We should have stuck with the resort we know and trust.

Wow I spent my birthday week at this beautiful resort this was honestly the most stunning resort ever!! Paradise! The staff are amazing the rooms are gorgeous and the entire resort feels like a dream. The beach is absolutely beautiful the food amazing to! Loved Ritas Tacos best week ever I hope to return in the future I miss it so much already best week ever

Lovely week at Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancún! The resort was clean, comfortable, and serene. We loved our swim-up suite, and would book this room again! Our butler, Alberto, made sure we had a great week, not only checking in on our needs, but ensuring we had dinner plans each night. Alberto went the extra mile and helped decorate our room for a birthday celebration. We also appreciated the art/craft activities for families and the drop-off kids club led by Tanya and Landy. Be sure to arrange for premium cuts like the tomahawk or porterhouse (well worth extra cost) for the best meal of your vacation! Everyone we engaged with provided excellent service, and we would definitely return in the future.
