We enjoyed our time at joia, but the bigger issues come up after you check in and think that you are "getting what you paid for" in terms of value. We had an ocean front room with a butler. The butler was missing in action all week. While the grounds around this hotel are beautiful, Our rooms had construction happening in front and one time it happened ALL night till 9am and dump trucks driving behind the room all morning and evening. Certain restaurants are closed on certain days, so plan accordingly. no menus for room service, bartenders missing from the bar. horrible coverage of World Cup while Mexico is playing the in the games. The Spa was a total disaster and horrible experience. The time share people over promised a ton of things and didn't follow through, and the SPA was lackluster and confusing. They tried to make us pay due to an error from the concierge, then we figure it out and then we lost time on our massage times. We paid premium money for the best rooms and it's just "ok" in the end. The other hotels in this group has better Coffee shops, better sports bar and better food options during the day. At least at Secrets or other hotels I get an better quality breakfast selection or bars when I spend the most money on the best rooms available. We won't be back

A huge thank you to Fatima for her accommodations, and for helping get us scheduled for a few different reservations. Gustavo, Caronlina, Benito and Tomas were also so kind and helpful. Mirna, Monserrat, and Lennin at the pool were so kind, attentive, and amazing at helping assist in meeting our food and drink needs! For activities and entertainment, Fabian and Mala/Fernanda were so fun and engaging! They were so encouraging as well. For our dining experience, Eusebio and Jesus at Venecia made our experience so wonderful. Adrian and Johnathan at Haiku made hibachi style dinner so much fun and complete. Our Legado experience was made well by Norberto and his kindness. And our last evening was at Ember. Leonardo took care of all of our needs. Chef Dario was so kind to have a conversation with us about our experience but allowed us to learn more about his culinary background and interests. All of the mentioned staff have made our experience so special and we are excited to see familiar and new faces when we plan to return. Thank you all!

We just returned from a week at Joia Paraiso and had a wonderful time. The resort is gorgeous and well maintained. I loved all the variety of wildlife around. The villa we stayed in was spacious and lovely. All of the staff was fantastic, but a special shoutout to the entertainment staff must be given. Monserrat treated us so well, as well as Mala, Jonathan, and Cinthia. Our butler, Gustavo also took wonderful care of us. I really enjoyed the variety of activities each day, especially the fitness and craft related ones. The food was good as well. Overall, I would definitely consider this resort a top-tier option you cannot go wrong with!

Everyone was so nice and the service was incredible. Perfect mix of fun and relaxing. Pedro was great and had so many fun things for us to do. We also all loved Jonathan, Alma, and Dario. Would definitely come back!

Wonderful Service, Beautiful Resort — Food Could Be More Consistent We stayed at Iberostar JOIA Paraíso in Riviera Maya from June 22 through June 27, 2026, and overall, we had a very enjoyable stay. This was our second time visiting the resort, and we continue to appreciate the beautiful property, relaxing atmosphere, and excellent service. We stayed in Building 71 and absolutely loved the concierge and butler team. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and professional. The staff kept our room clean, made sure we had everything we needed, and did a great job keeping our refrigerator stocked with the drinks we liked. Room service was also great and very convenient throughout our stay. I would especially like to recognize Adrian, Ana, Roberto, Fatima, Gabrielle, Tomas, Guadalupe (buffet), and Noemi for their outstanding service. They helped make our stay feel special and are a great example of the hospitality that keeps guests coming back. Also, shout out to the ladies working at the STAR Coffee shop at JOIA, they were great1 Our only complaint would be the food at some of the restaurants. I realize food taste is subjective, and everyone’s experience may be different, but several of our meals were either undercooked or overcooked. We hope the resort can improve consistency in the restaurants because the service and overall resort experience are otherwise excellent. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and appreciate the hardworking staff who made us feel welcome and well cared for.

We had an amazing stay at Joia and wanted to recognize some of the incredible staff who made our trip so memorable! A huge thank you to Adiel, Alma, Montze, Malla, and Paulia for making every day so much fun. Their energy, kindness, and attention to guests truly stood out throughout our stay. One of the highlights of our vacation was all of the pool games and activities. The entertainment team did an excellent job getting everyone involved and creating such a fun atmosphere without ever being pushy. We found ourselves looking forward to the daily activities and laughing nonstop. We also had an absolute blast participating in the games and entertainment at Rhapsody Bar. The trivia, contests, and interactive games made for some of our favorite evenings of the trip. The staff kept everyone engaged and made every event feel welcoming and enjoyable. Thank you all for helping create such wonderful memories. Your hard work, enthusiasm, and genuine hospitality made our vacation extra special, and we can’t wait to return!
