I have been going to the Sheraton Santo Domingo for the last 20 years ,at least 5 times minimum a year and it’s always been a great experience and every time I was always welcomed by some very warm and smiley faces who always make me feel special and treated as a valued customer! But all changed on March 19 when I get to the hotel and was greeted by a gentleman named Jose Enrique who had a very cold personality with no smile and in the past 100% every time my experience always been painless and stress free because the agents before always went above and beyond to make me feel welcome they make sure to upgrade my room at no estra cost what so ever! But Mr Jose Enrique even thou my hotel room was booked with a king size room He tryed to put me in a double beds room I had to argue with this dude telling him that I booked a king size room and he lied to me by telling me there’s no king size available unless I pay an extra $80 and what makes it worst the hotel was still advertising online king size rooms available! That was my worst experience ever at that hotel but I know it’s not the hotel but it was that agent Jose Enrique who was trying to make a couple extra $$ for commission who made my experience that bad Mr Jose Enrique used slizzy tactic to force me to pay extra so by his action he will take the reputation of such prestigious institution to the mud he was deceiving and very unprofessional and such individual should never be at the front desk of such wonderful enterprise!

I dont know how to xplain how bad is coming here My room never has hot water. I call them to let them know! They never came…. Elevator stop working because the electriciti was off for 3 hrs I have to walk to my 7 floor . Super crazy

Hotel muy anticuado, su estado no es acorde con su categoría. El suelo de la habitación es de moqueta, estaba sucia, no se podía andar descalzo. Hay un ruido continuo de motores, de aire acondicionado. En todo el hotel hace muchísimo frío por el aire acondicionado, teníamos que ir con varias capas de ropa, mi madre se puso enferma la primera noche. Les indicamos en muchas ocasiones que el aire estaba muy fuerte sin que hicieran nada al respecto, la sostenibilidad ambiental no es una prioridad para Sheraton. La comida no es de calidad, la música en la piscina está tan alta que no podíamos hablar entre nosotros, leer o escuchar algo, imposible. El personal está muy despistado, nos indicaron que para cenar el unico restaurante que había era el del lobby, más tarde descubrimos que por nuestro tipo de habitación teníamos acceso a una zona de buffet en nuestra planta, de la que no pudimos disfrutar para cenar. Por último nos hacían pagar en el momento todo lo que consumíamos, no era posible cargarlo a la habitación y pagarlo todo en el check out. Nuestra experiencia en este hotel ha sido pésima.

My friend and I arrived at the Sheraton at 5pm ready to check in to the hotel. The staff told us our room would be ready in about 10 minutes. Ten minutes later, the staff tells us the room will be ready in another ten minutes. We were then given two free drink coupons - which we learn later are only good for nonalcoholic beverages. Forty five minutes after arriving, we are told our room would still need another ten minutes. We were confused as check in was at 3pm. Additionally, my friend arrived at noon and tried to check in early so the staff was aware that we were going to need the room as soon as possible. Anyway, we finally receive our room keys three hours after check-in time (6pm) and we are given zero compensation for this delay. Free breakfast would have been the minimum. Nonalcoholic beverage coupons were a joke. I responded negatively to a survey that I was prompted to fill out when connecting to the WiFi and a staff member contacted our room to apologize, saying they would reach back out to compensate us. No one ever followed back up after calling about the survey. The pool was fine, the food at the pool was average, and the air conditioning was glitchy. The location was perfect for what we needed- quick Ubers to zona colonial.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I stayed at the Sheraton Santo Domingo for 10 days, and overall, it was a great experience. The property itself could use some updating—the carpeting and furniture are showing their age, and some areas feel a little dark. But those things quickly became secondary because of the incredible view and, most importantly, the phenomenal service. The view from my room overlooking the pool and ocean was amazing. You really can’t beat waking up to that every morning! From the moment I checked in, the service stood out. Estefany who checked me in immediately made me feel welcomed. Breakfast was another highlight. The selection changed daily, everything was fresh, and the service was exceptional. Luis and Nelson deserve special recognition. They did not miss a beat during my entire stay. Somehow my coffee cup was filled every morning before I could even think about asking! They were attentive, friendly, and genuinely made breakfast something I looked forward to each day. And Graciela, who made my omelet every morning, must have been adding a little love to it because it was SO good every single day! I also have to recognize Argenys in the lounge. He has a way of making you feel genuinely welcomed and does an excellent job connecting with guests. If you need recommendations about local places, have questions about Santo Domingo, or need a little help translating, he is your guy. A hotel can have the newest furniture, the fanciest lobby, and every modern amenity, but at the end of the day, it’s the people who determine how you remember your stay. Luis, Nelson, Graciela, Argenys, and the rest of the Sheraton team are the reason I would return. I won’t remember that the carpet needed updating. I’ll remember the ocean view, the coffee waiting for me, the great omelets, the conversations, and most importantly, how the staff made me feel. Thank you for making my 10 days in Santo Domingo so memorable. I look forward to returning!
