I checked in recently on FB basis. Had a dissatisfying experience where none of the meals offered were buffet. I believe this was due to low occupancy, however would have been courteous of them to give a heads up on probable non-availability of buffet at the reservation time like how other hotels do. The set menus were poor and lacked choice. Hotel had more management headcount than the guest headcount. The management seemed to unnecessarily shout at the staff even for one additional fan that should have been turned off. The food was low quality where fish was ages old, Froot Loops and corn flakes were rotting in the containers, sausages (the only nice thing in the menu) was hidden inside and you have to ask a staff to serve it to you each time. The mango cheesecake was so fake where it was not made out of cream cheese (I guess it was gelatin or something). I wouldn’t blame the chefs as I believe these are management cost cutting initiatives. They were reluctant to give a late checkout unless I paid extra (I asked for additional 2.5 hours to manage with my 1 year old baby) when the occupancy was less than 10% while they expected us to be okay with bad set menus due to low occupancy. On the positives, staff across all departments was excellent, friendly, supportive and hardworking. Premises and rooms were very well maintained. Location is friendly too.

Genuinely so bad. The rooms are extremely bad. Far from what is advertised. The rooms are dirty and not cleaned properly. Went to my room and found sheets that didn’t look changed and had blood stains on it. Had to ask for it to be changed. Then the smell in the room was unbearable. Don’t even know when the ac vents were last cleaned. Had to ask for a new room. I don’t even know how this hotel is 4 stars. The bathroom is not cleaned properly and very old. Really do not recommend.

Very disappointing stay Unfortunately, my stay at Camelot Beach Hotel was the worst hotel experience I had during my time in Sri Lanka. The hotel seems to have two very different parts: a renovated/new section and a much older section. Unfortunately, we were placed in the old part. The room was small, smelled strongly of humidity, and the air conditioning worked very poorly. To be fair, the staff did change our room when we complained, and I appreciated their willingness to help. However, the bathroom was still in very poor condition, especially the shower, which was dirty and honestly quite unpleasant. Another issue was the room entrance: the doorway is very low, and I hit my head several times. The last time was quite painful and could have been a serious accident. Overall, I cannot recommend this hotel based on my experience. If you decide to stay here, I would strongly recommend making sure you are booked into one of the newer, renovated rooms. The difference between the two sections seems to be significant.

Anlage sehr heruntergekommen. Zimmer riechen muffig nach Schimmel. Luft in den Fluren unerträglich schwül. Ein Mitarbeiter steht morgens stundenlang mit einer Steinschleuder am Pool und schießt damit auf Vögel und Streifenhörnchen, ein anderer jagt den ganzen Tag sehr rabiat streunende Hunde von der Anlage, die alle absolut friedlich und teilweise schwerst verletzt sind. Das hat mich sehr schockiert.

We hosted our Annual Staff Get-together at Camelot Beach Hotel recently, and it turned out to be an amazing event! The location is beautiful right by the beach, the food was excellent with a great buffet selection, and the service was top-notch. The staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating to all our requests. Everyone in our team had a wonderful time. Thank you, Camelot Beach Hotel, for the great hospitality!
