Beautiful Location, But Falls Short of 4-Star Expectations Stunning beachfront property that sadly underdelivers on service and dining. A mixed experience overall — the setting is gorgeous, but the execution needs serious work for a 4-star resort. **🛎️ Check-in & Welcome** On arrival, there was no staff at the entrance to greet or direct guests, and we had to wait in the lobby until someone from the front desk noticed us. The welcome drink was served as an afterthought, just before heading to the room — rather than on arrival as you'd expect from a resort of this category. **🛏️ Rooms** We stayed in a Triple Room, which was spacious and clean. However, amenities were stocked for two guests only, which was a little disappointing. Overall the room experience was decent, though nothing particularly exceptional for a 4-star property. **🍽️ Dining (Most Disappointing)** The dining experience was the biggest letdown of the stay. The buffet area was severely overcrowded with cramped seating, giving the impression that the management prioritised maximum capacity over guest comfort. Food variety was surprisingly limited for a fully-booked property, and the dessert selection was especially poor — the same few items were simply rotated across two or three stations. For a 4-star resort with ample space and a full house, this is simply not good enough. **🌊 Final Verdict** Amaya Beach has a beautiful setting and comfortable rooms, but the arrival experience and dining fall well short of 4-star standards. Would consider returning only if these areas see meaningful improvement.

Chambre agréable avec une très belle vue, même si l’établissement mériterait un petit coup de jeune. Le petit déjeuner est international et varié. Le personnel est toujours agréable et attentionné, avec une mention spéciale pour le personnel de chambre et du bar. Quelques points à améliorer : certains clients s’accaparent les transats dès 7h du matin alors qu’ils ne sont pas présents, et l’absence d’ascenseur peut être gênante. Enfin, le tarif est assez élevé pour un établissement présenté comme un 5 étoiles, que je considérerais davantage comme un 4 étoiles. Dans l’ensemble, les prestations restent bonnes et le séjour a été agréable.

We had a wonderful stay at Amaya. It is a beautiful and peaceful place for families, with a calm and lovely beach. The swimming pool was also very nice, and we really enjoyed the beach activities. I especially enjoyed the jet ski! The front office staff were very kind, friendly, and helpful throughout our stay. A special thank you to Sujiwa and Priya for their excellent service and warm hospitality. We truly enjoyed our time at Amaya and would be happy to visit again. Highly recommended for a relaxing family getaway! ❤️

We had been tossing between staying at Trincomalee or Passikudah and thankfully we chose Passikudah and the Amaya Beach Resort. We booked a deluxe double room on the ground level and it was perfect, roomy with a very comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom and great shower. We were warmly welcomed on our arrival and felt very relaxed as we walked through the property to our room. The Resort itself is lovely, modern looking and very well maintained - it was the perfect place for our stay. The resort is pretty well right on the beach, don’t be dismayed by the rocky (coral) beach and lagoon area, its still a lovely place to cool down, but a 10 min walk down the beach takes you to a very soft sand beach front and the swimming is lovely. Every morning before breakfast we went for a stroll and a dip - it was lovely. The restaurant is excellent and as we had opted for a half board package, we had breakfast and dinner each day we were there. The food was fantastic, with both great Sri Lankan and non Sri Lankan options, but the local Curry corner of the buffet was exceptional. The buffet had a large selection of food and interesting cooking stations. We loved our stay at Passikudah and the Amaya Beach Resort - the slow pace, beautiful bay, smooth warm water of the bay and the local activities. We did do a few things through the resort, including a snorkel trip to Elephant Rock (do first thing in the morning) and some of their water activities - the water sofa behind the Jet Ski was so much fun! All the drinks and additional meals and snacks were great and very reasonably priced and watching a sunset at the Honey Bar is a must. I would highly recommend the Amaya if you are thinking of staying in Passikudah.
