Not a lot to do, service isn't that great, the men are a bit rude. A bit of racism and favoritism. Food buffet is a waste, the time food is offer is less than most hotels. Less selection, not that tasty. Live stations have long wait lines and unfriendly staff. They close buffet early. They really do not want to give u food. They offer tea service in afternoon, but again u have to remind them a couple times. The women r really nice and considerate. Honestly would not recommend, not worth the money.

My stay at Aliya Resort and Spa in Sigiriya was absolutely fantastic. The highlights for me were the stunning, uninterrupted views of both Sigiriya Rock and Pidurangala from the reception and restaurant areas. Relaxing in the large infinity pool while taking in that same breathtaking scenery was an unforgettable experience. The gym is also very impressive for a hotel gym. Kasun the PT is very helpful and friendly. There is a Pottery creation area where you are taught how to make your own clay pottery. The food throughout our stay was excellent, and the service was equally impressive. The entire team was incredibly friendly and hospitable, making us feel right at home. I want to extend a special thank you to Mr. Tharindu (Front Office Executive) and Mr. Chirath (Resident Manager) for their warm welcome and for going the extra mile to ensure our stay was perfect. Highly recommended!

This is my second visit to this hotel, having stayed here in 2014 and again in June 2026 with my family. I really love the hotel’s calm and cozy environment. Both Pidurangala Rock and Sigiriya Rock can be clearly seen from the pool, which makes the view truly spectacular. The hospitality was excellent, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Special thanks to Shashi, Sara, and Sasindu: you all did an amazing job and made our stay even more enjoyable.💜

From the moment we arrived until our departure, our experience at Aliya Resort was exceptional. The front office team made us feel genuinely welcome, especially the front office manager , whose name I unfortunately cannot recall. Her warm smile, gentle nature, and heartfelt hospitality made a lasting impression on us. A special thank you also goes to Rohan the floor manager, who was incredibly attentive, kind, and helpful throughout our stay, always ensuring our comfort and wellbeing. It was wonderful to see staff members genuinely happy in their roles, which speaks volumes about the culture of the resort. The Vesak celebrations, including the beautiful Bhakthi Gee programme, added a special touch to our stay. The rooms were well-appointed and spotless. Having stayed at many hotels over the years, I can honestly say I have rarely felt this welcomed and cared for. The entire team from housekeeping and gardening staff to the chefs and banquet team were outstanding. Special mention to the head Chef and Tharanga from the banquet team did an exceptional service for us. I was particularly impressed to see the front office and floor teams actively assisting the banquet staff during meal services, something I have not witnessed at other hotels. While the international buffet and bakery selections were excellent, I believe the local buffet offerings could be further improved. Nevertheless, this was a memorable first visit and I look forward to returning to fully experience all that the resort has to offer.

All the staff were absolutely wonderful. They were very friendly, kind, welcoming, and always willing to help. Their service was extremely fast and excellent. A special thank you to Hasantha, who went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. He provided us with the best possible service and was incredibly helpful throughout our stay. Honestly, all the hotel’s great features are amazing, but Hasantha deserves a special mention! His English is also excellent, which made communication very easy and comfortable. Thank you to Hasantha and the entire hotel team for making our stay such a wonderful experience.

The location is good, with easy access to the local attractions. Breakfast is excellent. Lunch and dinner are curry-heavy and the menu repeats, so by day three it had started to feel a little samey. The pool is a pleasant spot, but service is the recurring weak point. Most guests seemed to be chasing their food and drink orders. A morning latte took around 20 minutes, and a poolside lime soda closer to 30. The buffet is a bit of a scrum at peak times. It is also a busy, high-volume resort, and the public areas can be noisy, particularly around the pool and at breakfast. If you are after a quiet retreat, this is not it. Gishan, one of the wait staff, was superb and made our meals a delight. Exceptional service. You might want to reserve a dining table if you have younger kids. The hotel has the feel of a large industrial complex dropped into an otherwise peaceful setting. It is perfectly comfortable and nothing went wrong, but of the places we stayed in Sri Lanka, this is not one we would return to.
