We are leaving from the most amazing stay at Serena Beach Resort in Mombasa, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. From the moment we arrived, everything was simply wonderful. The hotel itself is beautiful, with stunning surroundings, relaxing atmosphere, and impeccable attention to detail that truly makes it feel like a little piece of paradise. What made our holiday especially memorable was the incredible staff. Every single member of the team was warm, professional, and genuinely caring. A special thank you to Sylvester for his outstanding service — attentive, friendly, and always going the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable and happy. It’s staff like him who turn a lovely holiday into an unforgettable one. The food, hospitality, and overall ambiance were exceptional. You can really feel the heart and pride that goes into making guests feel welcome. If I could make one small suggestion, it would be for the Nyota Terrace to be made more welcoming with vibrant colours and a stronger African theme. Adding richer tones, cultural patterns, and more local-inspired décor would truly elevate the space and make it feel even more connected to the beautiful coastal surroundings. Thank you to the entire team for giving us such special memories. We are already looking forward to coming back!

Beautiful beach side resort in beautiful Mombasa. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. The restaurants on property are top tier with food selection. The view from your room is amazing and I love how the local wildlife comes up to the patio. Keep an eye out for the cute monkeys that roam property, they will try to party with you. I love Serena resorts, they never disappoint. ***Update on the review, the final day unfortunately overshadowed all the great I experienced while staying at the resort. The lack of organization at the front desk is ridiculous. Random charges ending up on the incorrect rooms, double charging for services that were prepaid, and the dishonesty of charging multiple guests in the group for vehicle service that was already taken care of. Very disappointed in how the checkout process was handled. I highly recommend keeping track of anything you are signing for and make sure to settle the room bill every night to ensure nothing new gets added.

There are hotels… and then there is Serena Beach. Last weekend, I chose to celebrate another year of life at the place that has slowly become our second home, and once again, Serena Beach Resort reminded me why we keep coming back. This birthday was a little different because I had a work meeting in Kilifi, which meant I had to leave my son at the resort for the better part of the day. As a mother, that’s never easy, but Mary, the kids’ minder, gave me the greatest gift of all—complete peace of mind. Saying she took good care of my son would be an understatement. She made sure he ate, played, swam, showered, laughed, and was genuinely happy. Not once did I receive a call because everything was under control. Her patience, warmth, and genuine love for children cannot be taught—it comes from the heart. For all three days of our stay, she showed up every morning with the same beautiful smile, endless energy, and the kindest heart. Mary, thank you for loving my son so effortlessly. Then came the birthday surprises. Walking into a beautifully decorated room already made me feel special, but finding a personalised birthday card with my own photo inside? That was something I’ve never experienced before. Such a thoughtful and unique touch. The birthday songs, the dancing, the warm smiles… none of it felt rehearsed. It felt genuine. It came from deep within, and that made all the difference. A special thank you to Samuel for organising the most breathtaking surprise beach breakfast. Sitting by the ocean, celebrating another year of life with the sound of the waves in the background, is a memory I will treasure forever. Chef David, your cake was not only beautiful but absolutely delicious. Your talent is truly remarkable. Our darling Monicah—whom my son lovingly calls “Monicah, my friend”—thank you for always making sure my little boy was well fed. From taking his meal orders to checking in and ensuring he was happy, your kindness never goes unnoticed. To Evelyn, thank you for always planning our stays so thoughtfully. Every visit has its own little surprises, making each experience feel brand new. We appreciate you more than words can express. Thank you also to Mikky, Peter, and Rebecca for your consistently warm, kind, and exceptional service. Hospitality is clearly more than a job to you—it’s who you are. And finally, Romano and Ephanes at reception, thank you for making every arrival feel like coming home and every departure effortless. Your warm welcome and seamless check-in and check-out always set the tone for another unforgettable stay. At this point, Serena Beach isn’t just a resort to us. It is home. Thank you for making birthdays feel magical, for loving our son as though he were your own, and for proving once again that true hospitality isn’t about luxury alone—it’s about people, kindness, and the memories they create. We’ll choose Serena Beach over and over again. ❤️

We had a wonderful time at Serena. Serena is beautiful as always, staff are amazingly friendly and passionate to bring happiness to their guests. The only downside was the rooms are a little outdated and facing the ocean make them very damp, but I guess that’s part of the weather here in Mombasa. Everything else was perfect and we really enjoyed our time here. They really went out of their way to create unforgettable memories for us, which was completely unexpected and a surprise for us. The restaurant hostess Rosemary and our waiter Mikky prepared such a sweet and romantic breakfast by the sea for us to celebrate our honeymoon, which really made our day. They’re into every detail to ensure this lovely experience, thank you so much :) Our flight also got cancelled on the day we checkout due to an industry-wide strike, Romano and Anne from the reception and guest relations helped us to navigate quickly through the chaos and quickly secured another flight that works for our travel plan, which we wouldn’t be able to do without all the local information and knowledge. Thank you for ensuring us a smooth travel, and helping with something that’s outside your responsibility. I lived in Mombasa 23 years ago and Serena was part of my childhood experience where we sometimes came for a drink/meal and enjoy the lovely views. This time staying for our honeymoon makes it even more meaningful and special. Thanks Serena for treating us well, we’ll be back :)

Dès notre arrivée, nous avons été accueillis avec une gentillesse rare et un sourire sincère qui ne nous a jamais quittés tout au long du séjour. Le personnel est d’une attention remarquable : toujours disponible, prévenant, chaleureux et profondément professionnel. Le service est tout simplement parfait, fluide, élégant et personnalisé — on se sent réellement privilégié et pris en charge à chaque instant. L’atmosphère qui règne dans l’hôtel est empreinte de bonne humeur et de sérénité. Chaque membre de l’équipe contribue à créer une ambiance positive et conviviale, rendant l’expérience encore plus mémorable. Les lieux sont d’une beauté à couper le souffle. L’architecture et la décoration reflètent avec finesse l’authenticité et le charme de la culture swahilie. Entre les jardins luxuriants, les espaces magnifiquement entretenus et la vue splendide sur l’océan, tout invite à l’évasion et au dépaysement. Le Serena est bien plus qu’un hôtel : c’est une expérience humaine et sensorielle inoubliable. Nous repartons avec des souvenirs merveilleux et une seule envie : revenir au plus vite. Un immense merci à toute l’équipe pour cette parenthèse magique au Kenya.

My family and I had a great time here. The service from the staff was exceptional. They were always happy to help. The half board option went a long way. The food was amazing and the chef was always ready to tend to a family members special diet. The children emjoyed the kids club. My stay here will definitely be one to remember
