National Hotel, an Ocean Front Resort, Adults Only

We stayed here for 2 nights before a cruise. Hotel is a gem to look at, very smart and clean. Check-in was very quick and easy. Booked a cabana suite overlooking the lovely pool. Beach is right behind the hotel with a dedicated area for guests, well serviced by excellent staff. All the hotel staff we dealt with were very professional and friendly, particularly Max in the restaurant and the bar tender in the hotel bar (forget her name!). We did have an issue whilst there, as an event had been booked in the pool area that went on all day BUT, I raised the issue with the front desk manager and emailed the hotel afterwards and they all dealt with it very well, so no complaints. Would recommend for location, beach access, food, lovely hotel, great size suites and excellent staff.

After three years of going with my wife we were shocked to see how much the service dropped. One day no one even approached us for two hours at the pool to ask is for drinks while they attended to the people next to us. The day we arrived we were told the pool, which was the reason we went in the first place, would close early for an outside party that lasted until 1:30 am and blasted music making it impossible to sleep. But the worst part was after returning home getting a text that the tv in our room was damaged and had to be replaced! Clearly someone from the cleaning crew damaged it and tried to cover their tracks, and we get stiffed with the bill. Never been so insulted in my life, and this is after years of staying at this hotel paying for overpriced drinks. Hope that tv fee is worth losing our business forever. Bunch of crooks. I’ll miss the bartender inside and restaurant manager who are a delight, as well as the piano bar. With so many options available in south beach, avoid this like the plague. If you’re adventurous TAKE PHOTOS OF YOUR ROOM BEFORE YOU CHECK OUT or you’ll risk getting defrauded! Really sad never to be returning, but fool me once, shame on you.

The location is a big plus—right in the heart of South Beach and close to everything. The pool is visually stunning and definitely the focal point of the property, but unfortunately it was quite dirty during our stay, which likely explains why no one was using it. The pool bar service was excellent. The staff were friendly, attentive, and did a great job, making time poolside enjoyable even if we didn’t want to get in the water. The rooms are in desperate need of renovation. They feel very dated and worn and don’t match the prime location or expectations for the property. With cleaner facilities and updated rooms, this hotel could be great, but right now it falls short.

Me hospedé una semana y les avisé que me llegaría correspondencia, la cual tuve que insistir varios días para que la entregaran porque la tenían no se donde olvidado. Pedí ayuda para que fueran por mi equipaje a la habitación, tres llamada más de una hora y no llegaron. La habitación no la barren todos los días. Lo único muy bueno el valet parkin 👌🏻

As a loyal guest of over five years, it is with genuine disappointment that I write this review. The National was once an exceptional property. A benchmark for both location and service. Regrettably, that standard has deteriorated significantly in recent years. The decline is evident across multiple touchpoints: rooms are no longer cleaned to an acceptable standard, room service orders have been delayed or forgotten entirely, and the attentiveness that once defined the staff's care has all but disappeared. For a hotel of this caliber and price point, that is simply unacceptable. The physical space remains beautiful, and the location is undeniably one of the best in the area. However, a stunning building cannot compensate for a failure in the fundamentals of hospitality. I would strongly encourage prospective guests to explore neighboring properties, including the highly anticipated Delano hotel opening next door in the coming months, where your expectations are far more likely to be met. After five years of loyalty, I will not be returning until there is clear and meaningful improvement in service standards.

A special mention has to go to Nayenci at the poolside — she was absolutely excellent and consistently made sure we were well looked after. Her professionalism and warmth really stood out, and she deserves recognition for the fantastic service she provided. Thank you, Nayenci, for making our time here even more enjoyable!
