I absolutely loved my stay at RIU Montego Bay from check-in to check-out. Everything was smooth, welcoming, and enjoyable from the moment we arrived. The very first person we encountered was Jahanne, who greeted me and my friends with the warmest smile and refreshing welcome drinks. She immediately set the tone for our entire stay. The entertainment was a 10/10 — we had such an amazing time. Rolly Polly and Bryan were incredible and truly made the experience unforgettable. I wish I could remember more names because honestly, everyone treated us so well, but they definitely stood out the most to us. We also appreciated the excellent service with our luggage, as staff assisted us with taking our bags up to our room at check-in and bringing them down at check-out, which made everything even easier. I really want to reiterate how sweet, kind, and amazing Jahanne was. She was the BEST to me and my friends, and we absolutely loved her. We truly hope to see her again on our next visit, along with Bryan. My stay was from January 23rd–27th, and I would 100% recommend RIU Montego Bay to anyone looking for great service, fun entertainment, and a welcoming atmosphere. I can’t wait to come back!

I overall enjoyed my stay at RIU Montego Bay!! It was a great experience!! There was a lot of festivities and activities to engage in!! Loved the pools and the beach was beautiful!! Loved there is a bar at the beach!! But wish they had towel service on the beach instead of just by the pools. The resort receptionist who checked us in was amazing!! The hallways need to be painted. There was only 1 elevator working and it was malfunctioning at times. The first room that we were assigned was not clean at all with mold that appeared to be painted over, there was flexi rods left under the bed, toilet was clogged not working and unclean, pulled the sheets back to find unclean linen, floors needed swept and mopped. After 3 phone calls and a pop up at the front desk we were assigned another room that I am happy to say was clean and I was very happy with. Many of the staff was very helpful and nice!! However, the buffet restaurant on the resort served old fruit, I observed a roach crawling on the floor in the dining area. The Asian restaurant was amazing. Sophie Italian Restaurant had good appetizers but their entrees were not good. The rest of the food was good and the servers were very nice and professional.

The positives: I traveled with a group of young women, and we appreciated that the hotel was affordable, generally clean, and conveniently located near the airport and local activities. The rooms were spacious, we liked the alcohol dispensers in the rooms, and the food was decent. The buffet was actually better than what we’ve experienced at many other all-inclusive resorts. The negatives outweighed the positives. Despite being advertised as a party resort, there was often no music, and the pool music was usually turned off by 4 PM, leaving many guests complaining that the resort was boring. We were also shocked that most buildings had no elevators. Most concerning, my roommates and I returned one evening to find our room doors wedged open and small amounts of cash stolen. Security blamed us for not using the safes, informed us there were no hallway cameras, and seemed uninterested in addressing our concerns. The only investigation they could do was check the door keypad records. The entire situation made us feel unsafe and unsupported. For safety reasons, YOU SHOULD CHOOSE ANOTHER HOTEL!

I almost let the negative reviews scare me away from booking, but I’m so glad I went because I had an amazing experience! The resort was very clean, and I constantly saw staff cleaning throughout the property, which made me feel like cleanliness was a top priority. Housekeeping did a fantastic job keeping our room spotless every day. As for the food, I honestly don’t understand some of the complaints. It’s resort food—they’re serving guests from all over the world, so of course the flavors are going to be more balanced to appeal to a wide range of people. Was every meal five-star? No. But there was plenty of variety, and I always found something I enjoyed. I definitely never went hungry! What really made this resort stand out was the staff. Every employee we interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. They worked hard and always greeted us with a smile, which made the vacation even more enjoyable. Overall, I had a wonderful stay and would absolutely return. Don’t let a handful of negative reviews stop you from experiencing this resort for yourself. Go with an open mind, enjoy the beautiful atmosphere, and make your own memories. I had a 10/10 vacation!

I liked the steak house, the golden dragon, the beach, and entertainment. Shakeel from rose hall dining was pleasant, warm, attentive, and affable! One of the few employees who didn’t look miserable and angry to be around the guests. The bathrooms by the pools are kept very clean and smelling fresh. I didn't like the cockroaches by the oatmeal at the buffet or by the pool and in the hallways. It’s not normal for a resort to have roaches even if it’s located near vegetation, we as guests didn’t spend our hard earned money to stay with those disgusting bugs. Didn't like that we weren't able to have more than one beach towel. The poolside chairs were dirty, some were stained with bird poop. Probably from the crows that fly around the dining area and land on silverware and tables. So having only one towel to cover the chair makes a guest feel uneasy and incapable of relaxing. No straws are available here so they should train employees on how to carry a glass/cup without placing their fingers around the lip of the cup where people drink. They don’t have cabanas or pool side service. Bring shower shoes. Wouldn’t recommend showering barefoot. I wouldn’t recommend the Riu Montego Bay to anyone looking for a luxury resort where you don’t have to question cleanliness at every turn. But if you don’t care about all that, this is the place for you, you’re gonna love it!

This is my 5th time visiting Montego Bay Jamaica. This is first and last time staying at this resort. Let's start with front desk ladies....not very welcoming at all. The room was the worst resort room I have ever stayed in. Smelled like mildew, Ac did not work, thank God for the ceiling fan. We reserved a double room. When we got to the room it was 2 dbl pushed together. We called down to desk and was told someone would be up to move beds apart and night stands. That was about 330. We left to try to enjoy ourselves for a few hours. Got back and beds were still together/nothing moved. We moved it ourselves. Then the toilet was inoperable, so we called down to desk, they said someone would be up. You guessed it, no one came up. Called 2 more times over an hours time. Then guy comes. Fixed toilet then proceeded to walk from bathroom to door dripping soiled toilet water on floor. I had to say something for him to go get mop to clean it. The floor already was dirty and gritty. Furniture was not clean. The staff thru out the resort was dry, rude and lazy. In the buffet dining area extremely rude, and the food had flies flying all in the cases. Pointed that out and they shrugged their shoulders. If you love chicken plan to eat chicken around the clock. Just really poor food choices. Thd entertainment staff got the stars! Everything else a ZERO! This resort is Econo lodge level if that.
