The room is clean and the beach is good. That is where the positives end. The front desk staff try to help but are powerless, as everything must be approved by “management.” Service in the restaurant is unacceptable. Drinks routinely take around 20 minutes, and food takes between 50 minutes and 1 hour 40 minutes. Everything is overpriced, and the poor service makes the inflated costs even harder to justify. Staff are dismissive and rude until complaints are raised, at which point their attitude suddenly changes. It feels as though guests are an inconvenience rather than a priority. Being served drinks in plastic cups only reinforces the low standards. This property has potential but fails badly on service and value. Never again.

We thoroughly recommend the stunningly beautiful Bougainvillea hotel in Christchurch. It is aptly named with the vibrant red, pink and purple flowers cascading down through the hotel from reception flanking the mini waterfalls and pools to the beachfront. It’s an independent hotel owned by a Bajan family and makes a refreshing change from the sterile, one-size-fits-all, all-inclusive international chains where you could be spending your time in any destination in the world. The Bougainvillea oozes Bajaness - from the calm ‘no problem’ attitude and warmth of the staff to the delicious food at the Calabash restaurant and the bars. The beach is gorgeous and the watersports team are fab. There’s even a games room and a gym. It’s definitely a family friendly hotel with pools ideal for children from babies to teenagers. There’s a swim up bar for adults too. And it’s brilliantly located not far from St Lawrence Gap and the fishing village of Oistins, famous for their fabulous Fish Fries. Ask for a room with step-free access if you have a mobility impairment. If you are travelling to Barbados, then please do consider supporting Bajan-owned hotels and avoid all-inclusive deals so you can support local businesses by spending your money in local bars, restaurants and shops. Not only will you help the local communities but you will get to experience the real Barbados - and it’s magnificent.

The hotel was beautifully situated on the beach and the chair/umbrella/towel situation was easy. The reception staff was also lovely. I hate to write a “bad” review but the restaurant staff was something I’ve never experienced before. I am all for island time but this went beyond that - each meal you had to allot 2.5 hours - yes breakfast and lunch too and the seating wasn’t comfortable. Often times staff was very rude when you’d ask for anything such as water. I often see negative reviews as something foolish as it’s vacation and everyone should relax but this will impact our decision to come back. The other thing id note is that for $650 a night, I think the pool side and beachside furniture could be upgraded. The chairs are those old school loungers which aren’t the most comfortable. Mattress in the bedroom should also be upgraded.

This beautiful hotel sits on a stunning beach with white soft sand and turquoise sea. It is picture perfect. The hotel and grounds are beautiful and the room was well maintained, with a well equipped kitchenette. You can walk to St Lawrence gap, and we found a couple of places to eat nearby. Nathan will make you a great cocktail and everyone was super friendly :)

We had an amazing stay at Bouganvillea. The location is beautiful, right on the beach which isn’t overly packed with people or sun-beds, you can enjoy a long quiet stroll along the beach/s The hotel itself is very special, very tropical and beautifully designed. The staff are very friendly and helpful, & great with kids. The hotel has two lovely restaurants, Calabash which offers breakfast, lunch & dinner, and Deia which offers lunch & dinner. Rooms are spacious and offer daily cleaning services. We had a suite which had a separate kitchen and lounge which was great for a long stay with a 2 year old. Overall our stay was great and we’ll definitely be back!

Came here for a couple of days to celebrate my birthday in October and it was a lovely experience! The location was calm, the beach was nice and clean, their drinks were very well made and the food (their breakfast) was delicious! The staff were very friendly and professional. They kindly upgraded my room also; the room was very spacious and clean, the only downside was the main door had issues closing, but they were very attentive and solved the issue very quickly.
