This place is truly amazing. The room is fantastic and very well maintained. The food is top notch, honestly comparable to good restaurants in the states. The drinks were nice and strong no worries about weak or water down. Had a preferred club swim out in building 4. Perfect location for everything. The entertainment staff is great (special shootout to Anthony and Mario) the overall service and interaction with exceptional attention to detail(special shutout to Jose concierge building 4) and dietary needs. This was our paradise.

We had a fantastic stay at Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya. The resort is beautifully maintained, and the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Everyone went out of their way to make us comfortable, and the whole place felt welcoming from the moment we arrived. We did have a misunderstanding at check in with the vacation club. We thought it was part of the check-in process, shortly after we realized it was a sales presentation and canceled our attendance, as we were there for vacation not a sales presentation. The manager said he would make correction and have the vacation club staff approach guest more clearly on what the vacation club was separate from check in. Manager did check on us through stay to make sure we were enjoying our room and stay. We spent most of our time at the main pool by the beach, where the activity team kept things fun and entertaining. They did a great job getting people involved. There are also two quieter pools if you prefer a more relaxed atmosphere. The beach had a lot of sargassum during our visit, but there were plenty of chairs and umbrellas available, and it was peaceful since very few people were out there. The food was excellent across all the restaurants—Italian, French, steakhouse, seafood, Japanese, and Mexican. The Japanese hibachi requires reservations and fills up fast, so book as soon as you arrive. Even without hibachi seating, the regular tables offer a cozy atmosphere and a larger menu. Entertainment was great as well. The resort hosted themed shows and buffets during the week. We attended one of them, and the food selection was huge. The show was under an hour, leaving plenty of time to enjoy other events each night. Our room was spacious and well maintained, with housekeeping coming twice a day for morning service and evening turndown. The included mini‑bar was restocked daily. Each building also had its own concierge who helped explain daily activities and events. There were parts of the resort we didn’t get to try, like the spa and the paid excursions, but we’d definitely consider them on a future visit. Overall, Secrets Akumal delivered great service, delicious food, fun activities, and a relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Our experience for a week at Secrets Akumal surpassed our previous experience with another Secrets resort, the one in Punta Cana. We say this because the food here was not only edible but actually delicious. It was seasoned well and cooked nicely. The hibachi experience was ok but I'd probably stick to the main dining for more variety and food quality. Portofino, Bordeaux, El Patio all served pretty excellent foods that we would go back for seconds. The pools were great and they go from loudest (main pool) to bit more quiet (center pool) to most relaxing and quiet (third pool). They also get the most breeze in that same order as the 3rd pool is furthest from the water and blocked by landscape and buildings. People still unfortunately show up early to "reserve" their pool loungers and/or beach chairs. The property is starting to show some signs of aging like inside some of the pools, or the exterior of the buildings. I'm sure the management is aware and you can see they're trying to patch-as-they-go. Shoutouts to Luisa for helping us book Spa appointments , Tere for a terrific massage and Ricardo for his concierge services. Yes, there was seaweed during our week in mid-May but the property did everything they could to minimize it, including brining a truck each morning (which we would hear roaring on the beach starting 7am) to take away the collected seaweed. I was still able to go snorkeling and see all kinds of fish plus go on a turtle snorkel tour that had good visibility.

Me and my partner went in May this year and have nothing bad to say. It was absolutely amazing and the staff were so so lovely. Big shoutout to Alan, Oscar who ran the turtle snorkelling experience and part of the entertainment team (they were so kind and hilarious ! ) Which was fantastic, we saw so many turtles and other exotic fishes. Ada (apologised if i have spelt her name wrong) in the entertainment group. The best waiters Francisco with calf’s of steel from working so hard god bless him!! and Giovanni. Our amazing concierge Alexandra who had brought me flowers on my birthday. All an absolute credit to the hotel. Food was lovely and drinks. All staff could not do more than enough for you! Definitely recommend if you want to have the holiday of a life time!! Remember to bring lots of cash too tip they all deserve the world! Gabriella and Alex Savvi ❤️

The resort is right on the beach. Even though it is seaweed season, the workers kept it cleaned up and the beach was still beautiful! There are quite a few restaurants to choose from and each one we ate at was really good. My husband loved the pizza though! There was several pools but our favorite one was the lively one (they have quite ones too). The bartenders remembered us and remembered our drinks. Arturo was great! We had a Junior suite with a swim up pool and the workers came out every day to clean it. Our concierge Luis was amazing ! He made sure we had a special stay. We were celebrating our anniversary and he made sure our room was decorated with rose petals and fresh flowers. I highly recommend this resort! Ask for Luis!

I came 10 years ago when it was just built and had such an amazing experience I've decided to come back again. It's still my favorite resort. The people here are so amazing! The concierge service, all the service is unbelievable, everybody Bernardo, Talbot, Monica, the 3 Luis, Carlos, Marina and I'm missing so many of them, they all make this resort warm and welcoming that you don't ever want to leave. Thank you! The hotel is so beautifully designed in the jungle vibe with a very nice beach and 3 swimming pools each of them having a different vibe to enjoy activities or relaxation. Very amazing and well rounded, personable and you feel the natural Caribbean landscape everywhere in this cozy and luxurious hotel. The room was beautiful. I could go on and on..... Truly amazing experience again. I'm impressed!
